Hi everyone. I'm in the midst of writing a diet & nutrition book, and I'm curious to know if anyone out there has read any and what they think of them in general. More importantly I would love suggestions! What would anyone want to know, about ANY medical topic on nutrition or diet??? 🙂
Thanks, this will be a huge help 🙂

Health...

http://www.zoneperfect.com/Site/Content/index.asp

I follow the Zone philosophy, pioneered by Dr Sears. It's a fairly flexible, easily comprehensible way to eat that allows me to modify my goals as needed. At times I get into weightlifting, I merely increase the protein portions of the plan, and at other times when I'm slimming down for increased footspeed (for racquetball tournaments/season) I modify the carbohydrates and of course increase cardio and restructure my weightlifting towards endurance training.

My "health" numbers from bloodwork and doctors visits are all in the normal or better range, which obviously speaks well of the balance and nutritional success of this diet/plan.

It's simple to plan meals, and should you "fall off" it's easy to start anew. It can be used for either weight loss or gain, and in conjunction with a decent exercise program it succeeds at building muscle and reducing body fat %.

I like it...it works for me, and I'm one of those people whose weight and body "look" varies quite a bit. I have a medium frame and have been as low as 160 and as high as 240. In general it has kept me healthy and active as I near my 50's, and when I follow the system rigorously my energy level is consistently excellent. Just my 2 cents... Q

I;d have to add putting comparisons of diets intehre.. ie Atkins( was on that STRICTLY for a while..lost a good deal of weight but had to modify it to include more lc fruit and veggies) Zone, Carbohydrate Addicts diet( that is closer to the Way of Eating I follow) , ect.. along with the low fat ones. I ahve to agree with Q tho, that the carbs can be VERY dangerous, esp for people who have a family history of diabetes( like I do) . Also I don't know your feelings about it, but include carbs and their relation to insulin resistance ect.
