WHY HELLO.
Ya know, for as long as I've lurked here / contributed sporadically, I wonder why I haven't made a member profile yet ... ?
Well, I am Joel. I'm a 23-year old former Nebraskan who now resides in Philadelphia, working as a barista in a cafe. I don't even drink coffee. And no, I won't make you a latte.
My passion in life is music, as I am fascinated by melodies: the idea that a series of notes can illicit emotion in people is super-awesome-rocking chair. I enjoy writing songs though I'm still pretty sloppy when it comes to performing them, but regardless I have recently started hitting up open mic nights to show off my wares.
I am also passionate about traveling and forcing new experiences upon myself (while kicking and screaming.) My move to Philadelphia was pretty recent and, honestly, pretty spur of the moment. I spent 2009's October road-tripping, visiting new places and meeting new people, and at the end of the month found a steal of a deal on a room sublet in the City of Brotherly Love and decided to take the opportunity to try something completely new for a while.
I mean, why not, right?

Now, about my tickling fetish.
I didn't understand my sexuality for the longest time, which led to me being a real creep about it growing up. It also resulted in me having only sporadic involvement with the forum for the length of my membership, but I believe that coming to terms with who I am and the shitty behavior of my past self is helping me open a lot more around here. It's still something rather personal to me, but I figure ignoring it hasn't helped any in my life, so expect to see me at a few munches and gatherings coming up here.
I mean come on, I live in Philadelphia for crissakes.
Other than that, I enjoy house shows, cheap beer, wtf-humor, politics and getting to know the weird and ignored people who seem to live on life's peripherals and sit in the corner lunch table. I also like to dress all snazzy-like. That's my fav.
Um ... I like the color silver? I'm five eight? Heck, I dunno. I think I've pretty much covered all the interesting things about me. If you have any further questions ("do you like ponies?" "how much money is in your wallet right now?") then ask away!
