who is your most inspirational historical figure and why, I have to take Linclo-for plain old gosh darn determination.

Hmm. I think number one is Albert Einstein.
#2 Frank Zappa
#3 Ben Franklin

All three loved pissing people off.

Lando Calrissian. He is a huge part of our galactic history and no history book would be complete without him. 😀

"He's a smuggler, card shark, scum, but you've love him."- Han Solo

Lando Calrissian had a very illustrious career, yet very humble beginnings. His con games would see him the owner of several mining facilities and eventually he reformed his ways and became the adminstrator of Cloud City on the Bespin system in a very legitimate capacity.

He would then be faced with many difficult choices, and his morals would be challenged in many of his business affairs. At one such time, he was confronted by one Darth Vader of the Galactic Empire, and was forced to lead his old friend, Captain Han Solo, into a trap that would lead to his capture and torture. While the situation and his own city was effectively out of his hands, Lando's true compassion shown through, and with determination he made an attempt to right his wrongs by joining the Rebel Alliance in their spirited effort to free the galaxy from the iron grip of one Emperor Palpatine.

In his time with the Alliance, he lead many spirited battles against the tyranny and oppression of the Empire, and was instrumental in the Alliance's ever-growing momentum.

Lando's skills, intelligence, and leadership quickly saw him rise through the ranks to the rank of General.

At the Battle of Endor, General Calrissian was the leader of the space fighter attack upon the new Death Star battlestation, and he bravely lead his forces into impossible odds.

Refusing to give up and lose faith in his friends and comrades, he urged Admiral Ackbar to not retreat and allow the Endor strike team more time to complete their mission. With the battlestation's protection stripped away at the success of the strike team which was led by General Han Solo, General Calissian and one Wedge Antillies managed to successfully navigate the Death Star's superstructure, destroy the station's main reactor, and thereby the station itself.

He was hailed a hero that day, and his bravery will never be forgotten. His selflessness helped turn the war in the Alliance's favor, and he has continued to play a significant role in the New Republic since.

As a person of color, Lando Calrissian is a positive role-model for young minorities everywhere. He has proven that anyone, regardless of ethnicity or situation, can reach new heights of success, achievement, and happiness. He gives hope to so many and his charisma knows no bounds.

I salute you Lando Calrissian. You helped make the galaxy a better place, and in so doing, have made your mark on all of our hearts. God bless you, you scoundral! 😀

LANDO CALRISSIAN FOR PRESIDENT!

Seriously though, I don't have one. Not one of them sticks out for any particular reason...

George Washington is still the man in my book. Decent, honorable, brave, determined...and we should never forget that at war's end, he could have made himself king if he had so chosen. The army would have backed him.

A close second is Robert E. Lee. At the very end, Lee could have dissolved his army and the men would have scattered to the four winds, regrouped into guerrila bands in the hills and the fighting would have continued for years, if not generations. By surrendering the army intact, he did as much as anyone to restore peace and the Union.
Also, when a prominent bank offered him a lucrative but honorary post on its board of directors, hoping to trade on his fame and prestige, he turned them down, saying that he could not accept remuneration for no work. He earned his living after the war, as president of Washington University.
Finally, one Sunday morning after the war, a black man entered a white church and knelt at the altar to receive communion. The congregation sat stunned at his impudence until one white man rose and knelt next to him at the rail. Then the entire church followed Lee's example.

Honorable mention to Sir Thomas More, the English martyr. (I did not cite Jesus Christ because I don't want to risk sidetracking your thread onto contentious religious matters. Also because, as both God and man, He is above the question.)

I don't see what the problem with being inspired by Jesus is and saying so. It's perfectly possible to do so without discussing religion. Besides, anyone of any belief can be inspired by such an individual, if only for their merits alone.

I actually never considered religious figures in this topic until you mentioned it. I'll have to think about this.

Ben franklin is the coolest dead guy i can think of...Wait, FDR. Tie between them both. Ben was just a smooth genius that had any woman he wanted (many times over, hehe). Franky on the other hand is just plain cool. How many people could get elected president and carry out all of your terms without anybody knowing that you are crippled? I mean, beyond a select few, the whole country thought he could walk. That is awesome.

I'd have to say it's a tie....both Gwen Stefani and Ashley Judd inspire me to have as much sex as possible.
