Hello there. I was wondering if anybody here could code well enough to make a few interactive tickling read-along type things? I could make up the story line, you could code, but most of all, we'd be doing something for the community and eventually start charging for our product if it becomes popular. (By eventually I mean a while, I want to contribute first.)

So, basically an open invitation to anybody who wants to help in any way. We need artists, alot of artists. Like I said, I'm only good for the story, which I want to be very deep and long, but in each chapter, some tickling will be involved. If you'd like more information about my idea, post here, or if you'd like to help, post here also.

Again, this is just a little idea I came up with and I hope I can make something of it, with your help.

33 views. Comon, somebody must be willing to start this off and see how it goes with me! 🙁

There are two elements that I believe an illustrated story requires in order to be really good. The first is continuity of story, and the second is continuity of characterization. Interactive stories are usually hodgepodges of description with no real storyline or continuity of perspective. It is the story equivalent of Mad Libs; fun to read, but not very exciting, and certainly not worth spending any money on.

Adding artwork might be a bit difficult of an endeavor because the artist would have to know what the picture is going to be BEFORE the next contributor posts his or her chapter, thereby eliminating the "interactive" part. Also with so many different renditions of a character, there would be no visual continuity to the story.

I don't mean to be negative for the sake of negativity, and it may be that I just don't understand your concept, but if it is what I think it is, then you've got some pretty large obstacles to overcome.

Let me clarify. I'm not looking an all out text based story. Remember that tickling game for the Ax (I think it was) ad? You point the feather and click and the girl responds? That's what I'm looking to make, with artwork instead of real girls though. Hope that clears some stuff up.

I get what you're thinking. In fact, I tried to make one myself, back when I first learnt the basics of programming in Pascal. It was totally command line and I wrote the story myself, but I never got it finished. I'm not exactly the best coder around though, and being in the middle of exams and degree classes right now I'm not sure I'd have the time to help... But, I do think it's a good idea. Do you have any idea what programming language (or type of programming language) you'd want to do it in?

I have no clue what kind of coding it would require, so I can't really answer which one I would want for it. All I know is that I can make up a really good story, and somebody could draw and could, we could have a thing going. I'm sure the folks here would get into a great story with tickle-by-click. *sigh* If only I could draw or code, I could be of a better help.

Well, picking the right language would depend on what you want the program to do and how you want it to look. For instance, a really simple one might look like a normal Windows style application, and have some buttons for the actions the user chooses, or something.

That would be fine. The buttons. I'll look into some of this stuff and reply back eventually, I want to know all the possible options before deciding upon a final one.

Whatever y'all decide to do, plz plz plz plz make it Mac compatible. I love that sort of thing, and I would pay for it...but please make it Mac compatible. :grouphug:

something else

Another option could be a "simple" website with links. That would only require a webbrowser, no specific operating system.
It is more flexible concerning updates (new options).

I know about both, it only is a question of time. Maybe some more people could work on this idea?
If interested, keep me up to date.

That is another simple option I thought about. Doing it that way would be insanely easy, all you'd need is a web-host really. Free ones like Geocities and Tripod kinda suck... But there are other alternatives.

webhost

Just to say it, you'll need a webhost for the other kinds of program too.
A web-project could also be embedded into a real program, for whatever reason.
