I heard on BBC Radio2 in uk yesterday (7th Feb 07) on Steve Wright's show, that Leonardo DeVinci once invented a 'tickling clock'. This clock when set to wake the person, then tickled the soles of his/her feet.

Did anyone else know this? Is the 'DeVinci Clock' gonna be the sequel to the DeVinci Code? I bloody hope so!!! LOL

That is awesome, andymac. I sure hope it is indeed true. I'd love to see the diagram he made for the thing. As if Di Vinci wasn't already fascinating enough. I'm not sure HOW tickle-clock would work, exactly, but it's a wicked cool concept!

I don't know, myself, but I can imagine how one might. You know the analog alarm clocks with the hammer that goes back and forth between the two bells, striking them? Well, imagine if it didn't have bells, and the hammer held a feather.

The problem would be that the person's feet would have to be in the right position at the right time. The only way to ensure this might also keep the person from getting to sleep in the first place.
