i payed $8 to see this movie and had some doubts about it, but being an Iron Man fan, i had to see it.

man was i surprised. i LOVE this movie! if you had doubts about seeing it, put 'em away and watch it. really great movie that had the audience giving it a round of applause. goes to show you don't need to be rated R to make a great movie.

but please, go see this, you won't be displeased. it has humor, action and sorts, and gets the characters right. Robert Downey Jr. is an excellent Tony Stark.

I had my doubts about Robert Downey Jr but Ill take your word for it. Thanks for the tip.

I just saw the movie this morning and heartily agree with the above assessments! The film had everything I wanted from an Iron Man adaptation: a tough, gritty story, sumptuous visuals, wicked humor, and terrific acting! The best surprise was an element of character cross-over, just as is frequently done in the Marvel comix... please, don't anyone leave before the end credits are finished!

I hearing a lot good on this, but also some bad. Critics are not to agree on Iron Man! I think comic movies are too much - too number of them. Is X-men fault. Five years ago, they came and be a good film. Now EVERY comics is to be on a cinemas!!! Iron Man, Ghost Rider, Spider Man, Super Man, Bat Man, and also Dare Devil and Cat Woman, and even Fantastic Four, is too many!

Don't forget the incredible hulk and the phantom as well as dick tracy. They make for decent movies though.

that's why i thought this wouldn't turn out good, but Iron Man breaks the mold, making it THE best marvel movie out there in my opinion (The Punisher comes a close 2nd). and besides, Stan Lee's portrayal as Hugh Hefner was just classic stuff right there.:super_hap

If its that good then there will be at least two more. That seems to be the trend.

I don't want to be specific and ruin any surprise for comix fans who haven't yet seen the film: let me just say that in a scene after the end credits, another Marvel personality puts in an appearance. He's strongly tied to the government organization active toward the end of the film, the one with the acronym... I think you may be able to guess the guy I'm talking about! After that, suggestions are advanced about forming a further famous Marvel organization, one with which Iron Man (in the comix realm) is associated as a founding member. Again, I think you may be able to guess which group I'm referring to! The filmmakers appear to be laying the groundwork for a movie about the formation of this group of superheros. Now that Marvel's personally calling the shots on all their cinema projects, this upcoming film could be the blockbuster to end all blockbusters! I've certainly got my fingers crossed!

Ah I see what you are getting at. That will be interesting indeed.

I thought it was a great movie. I would recommend it to anybody, especially comic book fans.

And they showed a brand new Dark Knight trailer woo hoo!

I read Batman family comics.

I have a theory about this. Once they(Marvel comics/Hollywood) have introduced the movie-watching public to the mainstays of their superhero line-up, we'll start to see combo-movies, with the Fantastic Four taking on The Hulk, and so on.

Less likely, but still possible: D.C. and Marvel character combo-movies. Still, it could happen!

That seems to be the way the wind's blowing... I understand Tony Stark will be making a cameo appearance in the new Hulk movie. I certainly hope that's what's in the works: crossing-over established characters is an exciting prospect, one which could really revitalize the whole genre!

I think Marvel and the movie makers should be cautious: some of their adaptations have been very good like Spiderman and Iron Man, while others have tanked like Hulk and Ghost Rider... doing too many 2nd, 3rd and unteenth installments will water down the joy of seeing them, much like the horror industry is experiencing.

That being said, I saw Iron Man and thought it was fantastic and well put together. As stated above: it had a good mix of spontaneous and dry humour, Robert Downey Jr. played Tony Stark amazingly and the graphics and CGI were great. I had a discussion with a buddy of mine that I saw the movie with and we agreed that Gwyneth Paltrow played Pepper extraordinarily well.

omg i can't believe i missed that!

i do recall there already was a low budget flick with that person and government branch mentioned above, having david hasselhoff play that man mentioned above. hope there's still gonna be a movie about him.

now i was wondering, is Obidias a real Marvel comic villian, or was he just someone hollywood thought up, much like Bruce Banner's father?

Obadiah stane is a real marvel character. You actually see him during the late 80's. His origin and relationship to Stark is quite different in the comics, but the change they made in the movie worked well. Also, Stane wears a similiar battle suit in the comic book "armor wars" story (which would make a great 3rd Iron Man movie) as he does in the movie, which is where they obviously drew the idea from. He calls it the "Iron Monger," which is referenced in the movie.

Just to add my own support. Yes, Iron Man is excellent, and I am super critical of comic book movies and a huge Iron Man fan. Robert Downey Jr. IS Tony Stark in so many positive and negative ways that he becomes the character so effortlessly (or so it seems). Definately a winner, and, with a few subtle changes, the most faithful comic book character adaption so far.
