Is anyone familiar with the "Power Exchange" club in SF?

Hi all!

While browsing around, I happened across mention of a very unusual "all types welcome, nudity encouraged" consensual play area. There seems to be lots of security and oversight to make things work.

I'd like to make up an 8x11" sign worn backwards saying something like:

Been there a couple of times, actually. When playing our own scene there, we quickly had an audience, and one fellow even asked, rather politely, if he might participate, tickling the 'lee at hand.

I don't know how it would go to try finding your own scene, cold, but I'd imagine such IS possible.

You'll find that the lower two floors are for mixed gender, and the area above is for gay men only. On some weeknights, it used to be open for all floors, but I don't know if such is still the case.

Lowest floor had a set of facades, such as a "jail" scene and a few medieval looking scenes.

Above, there's a largely open floor area, with cube-like structures housing beds, medical chairs, suspended seating, etc, along the wall, and a "fenced" off area in the middle (permission only to enter). One end of that floor has a video room playing porn, the other end has a group behind a cyclone fence doing whipping and flogging scenes. To the sides of that main area are the entry to the club, a well lit area with pool tables, and darker hallways on either side of the main play area. One hallway had wall-mounted benches and a couple of small isolated play areas, and the other had peep holes (I kid you not) into the scenes in the cube structures. You walk down this way-dark hallway, and can't help but notice the small brighter lighting from the holes, and the noise carrying through. Tripped me out.

The one time I saw the top floor, when they had it open to all, I was a bit disappointed, as I prefer bondage scenes, and there wasn't anything there that wasn't present below, for such. A stage, and a few play areas that seemed designed less for bondage and more for intimate uses. Cubes in a labrynthine structure and a bunch of tents. Not my scene, but there's somethin' for everyone, I figure.

Mind ya, there could be things I've forgotten. Lessee... Oh yeah, no booze, no drugs, and a lot of safe sex ads. Oh, and a shop for toys for such sport.

It's an expensive place, but given the nature of the place, it doesn't surprise me.

If it changed at all, or I forgot a detail, do clue us. I used to toy with the notion of hosting gatherings there, but given the expense, and how timid folks get about outting themselves to other ticklephiles, I don't picture them bein' likely to go there. Never can seem to find many that want to go, even as a group. If that changed, I'd easily play tour guide, and bring the supplies.

Ah, yeah, the supplies. BYOB - Bring Your Own Bindings. If you're "shopping" for play, such are necessary sometimes, as not everyone brings gear, and it's otherwise expensive.

$30 for a single (if you're wearing fetish or a towel/nudity), with the place open from 9:00pm to 6:00am, doesn't seem like a bad deal to me. Esp. when you consider that you're getting good monitors/security people that will instantly help out if somebody goes past boundaries. For that extra safety, can't beat it, pardon the pun 🙂.

That's the Fri/Sat price, anyhow. Less than that for couples.

Good advice on the restraints. Knit scarves would appear to be a good, cheap and effective alternative? they can be had at a goodwill or whatever for a buck each.

I've been to PE several times, and I'm not sure how well the scene you're describing will go over in the pansexual areas of the club.

The problem is that people at Power Exchange break down into roughly the following groups:

--Players, who usually bring their own play-partners and aren't usually interested interested in playing with people they don't know.

--Towel boys, who are there mostly to gawk, to get someone to Top them, or to play with any woman who will let them. This is the largest group overall.

--General hangers-on, mostly single women and transsexuals, who are there bcause they like the atmosphere. This is the most likely group to take an interest in the sort of scene you've described, but it's also the smallest.

The biggest difficulty is that there are LOTS of single guys at PE who are hoping to find someone to play with. It's a cliche there. With so many hopeful candidates it's not easy to make yourself stand out.

Congradulations, sir! Very glad to hear you had an enjoyable time. Even happier to hear you found play. I figured it wasn't just my visit that had "us" there. Here's hoping future scenes are as good for you.
