The Italian Press...has reported that...

Pope Benedict’s resignation as Pope has been tied to possible Gay activity by him and possible Blackmail.
:shock2::shock2::shock2:

Italian newspaper La Repubblica printed several stories stating that the pope resigned because of a sex scandal and not because of bad health. The pope has neither confirmed nor denied the allegations.

In the United States: :usa:

The National Football League has yet to accept an openly gay player…
Former Tampa Bay Coach and Super bowl Winner :trophy: Tony Dungy stated recently on National Television that when the League is ready, an openly Gay Player will appear.:shock2:

Is a sexual preference a problem for doing your job or holding a high office?

You decide...

The Pope is as old as dirt, how much sexually activity could he have left in him. I mean just because he changed all the drapes.

The report may have been from something a long time ago...

The scandal at Penn State was not about anything current...

Being openly gay is a considerable problem if you are part of, or were trying to be part of, the Roman Catholic Church.

Well, religion and homosexuality don't mix. Apparently, god is so appalled by people being gay that his minions would condemn them to hell merely for breathing, but all the murdering and raping is just a part of being human and can therefore be forgiven. Yeah right.

And as for the NFL, quite possibly one of the top 3 most masculine organizations in existence, it's all about being tough, and being seen as a guy that nobody can run over. Being gay probably comes across as being soft. Not something that football players are too keen on.

Basically, the world is sadly not ready to accept gays, just as it was with minorities and people of other religions. The roman catholic church, one of the most homophobic and hateful institutions known to man, and the NFL, with its all muscle and brawn tough guy routine.....yeah, they're probably not good with openly gay anything.

Until we invent time travel (and a real-time universal translator) we'll never know the real reason why religion doesn't like homosexuality. My own theory is that ancient cultures probably looked at the hetero/homo ratio, found the hetero to be more common, and deduced that gayness was some kind of mistake or malfunction, and Antiquity's solution to malfunctions was "kill it."

Abrahamic cultures are hyper-utilitarian to the point of being mechanical, and if you read the Old Testament, infertility was the biggest health scare of all time for the ancient Hebrews. If God didn't explicitly tell the Hebrews that homosexuals were evil, they probably decided that people who couldn't breed labor and soldiery were just parasites eating and shitting precious resources and therefore too much trouble to be tolerated; add in the interventionist aspects of the culture, and the Hebrews probably thought that gayness was psychologically communicable and the longer a gay person lived, the more heterosexual people they would convert to the other side. either way, the result is the same as every other decision of ancient people: "kill it."

As for the NFL...well, that's a masculinity issue. The stereotype of gay men is that of a preening, limp-wristed fop that is the antithesis of the rugged masculine ideal. There's also the feeling that a man who wants to have sex with other men must have strong feminine qualities to him (and therefore be the "bitch" in the relationship) and that associates them with femininity, which is also considered weak compared to the masculine ideal. Masculine personalities have contempt for weakness, gay men are considered weak, and the NFL is one of the bastions of masculine tradition so by nature it's going to resist any and all possible associations with homosexuality for that reason.

The day a popular player comes out, challenges haters to say something about it and then beats the shit out of 5 guys who harass him at a book signing with his bare hands which is then posted on YouTube, maybe THEN the NFL will be accepting on account of it's pretty hard to label a guy like that as a weakling.
