Is Tickling a Form of Ridicule?

I read an article that toyou444 had a link listed to at: http://www.teehee.com/Latest.html and it got me curious. It's an article on Laughter, what it comes from, how it works, etc. In it, there are some questions about teasing and tickling, and this doctor's opinion of tickling was that it is a form of ridicule. "Think of it this way. Racist, ageist, and sexist jokes are a form of intellectual ridicule. Teasing amounts to emotional ridicule. And tickling translates down to physical ridicule." Please read the article, then I'd really like to see what the folks around here think about it. I'll be happy to share my opinion a little later on. Thanks!

Nice article, but incomplete. It suggests that there is only one type of laugh and one type of tickle. We all know better.

Seriously though: Anyone who does studies on these things isn't going to take in to account every possible angle. I did think that was unique perspective though. And one worthy of discussion perhaps?
