An IT manager, a hardware support technician and a software developer
were driving down an Alpine hillside when the brakes on their car
failed.
As the car kept getting faster and faster, the driver was hitting the
car off of the side of the road trying to lose speed, but the car was
still gaining speed. If they hit the barrier at that speed, they
would surely go through and plunge to their deaths.
Eventually, after about a mile, the road flattened slightly and the
driver managed to get the car to stop. They all got out of the car
and, looking around, they couldn't believe their luck.
The IT manager said, "Right, let's call the nearest garage and get
them to find out what happened."
The hardware guy was already under the bonnet, trying to fix the
brakes.
The software guy said: "Let's try that again and see if the same
thing happens."
