eight whole days with the hubster and he is still alive...lol...

ok he needed this vacation really badly..that's why i'm making such a big deal out of it..normally i wouldn't..i don't think..hmm..

we went to myrtle beach..it's super nice in the fall...warm but not broiling hot..not crowded...the only downside was...i forgot to put anything on my lips..and by wednesday i looked like angelina jolie..grrr

the hotel was super nice..except for the t-paper :ggrin: we booked a four bedroom suite, complete with four bathrooms..it was our only vacation this year and we wanted to do something special to commemorate our 30th wedding anniversary..so we splurged a bit..

while at the beach, we lost twenty percent of our ira thingie thanks to the economy..that put a wee damper on things..

there was a weird looking boat type thingie out in the ocean which remained stationery for the entire week after being towed out there..it had four pipe like stackie thingies..like the titanic..only a lot smaller...david said it was an oil rig...i thought hmm it's too close to shore..

and the most shocking thing was....my husband read an entire book..!!!!!!

and i overdrank..sighs...but i love sitting on the balcony, drinking cheap champagne..

oo and about the navigation thingie..he did map it out before we left...he loves to play with toys etc...and try and make me a nervous wreck..it didn't work this time..i just glanced over..rolled my eyes..punched him once..and went back to ogling motor cyclists...mmm oo and we had just missed bike week there..

there the whole week wrapped up in one tidy thread..i should have done this yesterday instead of wasting space with trivial, silly, inconsequential threads..but yesterday i was well..hmm tired...and not thinking straight..

Good to have you back. Doesn't sound like you got your fair share of tickles, though. How about nibbles?

I'm happy to report that you were missed. I'm off today (Gov't holiday) so I'm checking e-mails and boards and the like.

Started working on a song yesterday using your name. It's about saving a girl from making a bad choice. The song is from the point of view of a bad boy.

i got no tickles except by some fishies...and no nibbles either alas..ah well..

and wow..i'm very flattered...i would so love to hear that...and you know my weakness for bad boys...sighs..

yes yes i am married but not dead..

Well it sounds like despite a few hiccups you had a relaxing week. 😛 Hope you're feeling up to the challenge - thread-posting-wise, you've got some catching up to do! 😉 (Really - all we've had in your absence is incest and fury)

^ eeks so i heard...incest and fury, fury and incest...what a combo...i'm not sure how the topic of incest kept coming up anyway..but o well..it's all in the family..oops...sorry...bad bad joke...grr izzy you dip...sowwy izzy..

Sounds like you and your husband had a good vacation and stayed at a nice Hotel as well. Glad you are back home safe and rested up plus back online too.

Glad you enjoyed the vacation. Too bad about the money thing (O-U-C-H!) The doings in that Wall Street theme park are bumming me out too.

Well, glad you had a certain amount of fun, Izzy. Hope it was relaxing and that you actually got abducted by CIA and sent on adventure of your lifetime, but are forbidden to talk about it.

Ah, nothing like a vacation to clear your head and refresh yourself. Glad you made it back safe and sound. Next time, bring a camera!!!

4 bedrooms???

Did you run around the suite screamng like the kid from Home Alone in elation?

Seriously, it's perfectly acceptable use for way more space than you'll use. I almost did that the first time I saw one of our timeshares in Williamsburg. Except it was like midnight, and we figured that would be a bad way to meet people :ggrin: Ours was only a modest 2 bed 2 bath tho.

If I had 4 bed/bath, I totally woulda ran around it...lol Only got 3 baths in my house.

So, did the lip-burn make you take a break from drinking? Woulda slowed me me down...but I like bourbon, so maybe champys ain't all that bad on burnt lips? You just over drank later to make up for it? lol.

Glad you had fun. Vacations are a truly important part of life that don't get enough attention. In fact it was our vacation in 2006 that started the wheels that landed us in Virginia. Make sure you go somewhere cool next year.

I can hook you up with a few places in Williamsburg if you wanna see the Historic Triangle (more than worth the drive).

i should visit Williamsburg..the last time was as a kid..when the only thing that stood out was the information center, where my sister and i played on the escalator and got into trouble...

and yes i ran around lol...i ran around saying isn't this terrific...

and hmm the lipburn only hurt badly when i would first try to drink my hot tea...the lip thing was a combo of sea salt..and sun..and the wind...it made me so damn mad...my lower lip looked like i was pouting all the time..

You mean you weren't pouting?

Colonial Williamsburg is a good place to visit. Who knows, you might even wind up in the town pillory?😉

Yorktown, is another great place nearby, and is not a recreation. The museum at the battlefield is excellent. The Yorktown Pub, right at the base of the bluff used to be a cool spot for a pint and a soft-shell crab po-boy. Lots of history, all around the Chesapeake Bay.

Obviously, Bob, you've never been to the beach at Yorktown. Or the shops or just wandered around the town.

Try it. It's cool. They even got a schooner you can go for a sail on.

I think my wording may have been confusing. I should have said, Yorktown is not a "re-creation", meaning, it's the original town, not one that's been rebuilt, like colonial Williamsburg. You are absolutely right. Yorktown is a great place to visit, with all sorts of things to see and do, without the "theme park" feel of colonial Williamsburg. I spent quite a bit of time there with the military and would happily go back at any opportunity.

"Incest and Fury".

It wasn't all THAT bad. or at least, not if you take most everything with a touch of humor.

Still, good to see you back around the joint, and glad to hear that your getaway was overall a pleasant and rewarding escape, Isabeau. 🙂
