J.J. Abrams to Direct Star Wars episode VII

Hey guys, news broke today about J,J Abrams, the creators of shows like Lost and Fringe and director of movies like the recent Star Trek and Super 8 will be directing the new Star Wars movie out in 2015. I think this could be a good move since he was a big fan of the series growing up and also has done a lot of sci-fi already. He originally said in November he wasn't interested do to scheduling, seems to have freed up some time, I'm guessing money, lol. Here is a link to the info. What are your guys thoughts?

Wasn't really impressed with Super 8, but did enjoy the new Star Trek. Since the news broke there's been a lot of positive feedback from fans as well as a lot of negative feedback. I'm more of a wait and see myself, since no one really knows what the story lines gonna be or who the actors are it's still too early to tell.

We'll their is a good director and a writer for the movie. Wonder who they will cast? I wouldn't mind if they brought back everyone from the original trilogy and had it take place 30 years later with the New Republic.

So Abrams will now have control of TWO epic, space-based franchises. He's going to be a very rich man, assuming things work out well......

Has someone told him you can't shoot droids with lens flares? Because they really should before he gets started.

I'll be interested to see if he decides to re-boot the series, as he did with Star Trek, or attempt to carry on where Lucas left off. I hope to God that he gives it a completely fresh start; the thought of Jar-Jar Binks as 500 year old Gungan guru of peace and justice is pretty terrifying!

Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford said they would all return if asked, so that's pretty cool. So far it's looking good, great director and academy award winning writer. The story line is being kept secret, all we know is it is an original story not based off any books or graphic novels. Here is the official release from the Star Wars website. Lucas respects Abrams a lot and gives him his support.
