Java Trouble

Hi,
Well, its going on my third day without Java.
It started Saturday when I tried entering the chatroom
all I kept getting was the java sun logo for a time then a white box would appear with a red x in the left top corner.

I deleated Java 5.0 update 11 then tried to re-instal it but I kept getting a message that read win i586 ex is not a valid win32 application for Java J2SE Envirorment 5.0 Update 11.

So now I'm stuck on the outside of the chatroom looking in.
Oh yeah by the way I also switched my internet from dial-up
to a wireless rouder not really sure if that matters in my case.

But I really could use some technical help in locating a new java applican my Windows will except thank you in advance for your help.

You might try using an older version of Java 2 Standard Platform Edition (J2SE) 5.0. They have a bunch of them here in the archive below. HDS knows more about this then me but perhaps an even older version then 5.0 patch 11 might work better. It also might help him and others to know what OS you are using and something about your computer itself.

What version of windows are you using? An error like that should not be appearing for a simple executable.

Some types of viruses render you inable to execute .exe files (torvil.c is one I believe). You might want to do a virus scan or if you have no anitvirus software download a free one like AVG or Avast.
