Reports are still coming in regarding a tragedy involving the Kansas City Chiefs, but here's what we know at this time. Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend at a house near the team's facility on Saturday morning. Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan, who is on scene, confirmed the name of the player after speaking with local police.

After the shooting, Belcher drove to a location near the team's main campus and took his own life. Per the Kansas City Star, members of the team's staff tried to stop Belcher from committing any other acts of violence before the player turned a gun on himself. The Chiefs' Arrowhead practice facility was evacuated and is currently on police lockdown.

If his lover spurned him, he should've gotten another lover, not shot and killed another human being! I have no sympathy for him at all......he's a coward and died a coward's death. He should've gone by himself and not taken another with him!

I Prayers go out to the Families, and I feel so bad for their Little Girl. I also Feel for the Head Coach Romeo Crennel, and the GM Scott Pioli. He Killed Himself right in front of them, I can only Imagine what seeing that can do to a Person. I really think the NFL should have rescheduled the Game vs Carolina. But their gonna play as Scheduled.

I did hear that Belcher had some Mental Problems prior to all this.

And teammates had to watch as this arsehole shot himself? And they're playing a game today?? Wow! What a hot mess!

People that do crap like this are the ultimate narcissists IMO; I didn't even know there was a child involved. He killed the mother of his child then killed himself too? Who's going to have to be the one to tell that baby what happened to her parents?

He's just the lowest of low to me.......bottom feeding scum for what he did.

Absolutely horrible... personally, I don't think they should've played the game - that's just me though.

I will say, I especially appreciated Brady Quinn's comments about it...

"I know when it happened I was sitting there in my head thinking, ‘what could I have done different?’ When you ask someone how they’re doing, do you really mean it? When you answer someone back on how you’re doing, are you really telling the truth? We live in a society of social networks and Twitter pages and Facebook. That’s fine and stuff, but we have contact with our work associates, our family, our friends, and it seems like half the time we’re more preoccupied with our phone and other things going on instead of the actual relationships we have in front of us. Hopefully people can learn from this and try to actually figure out if someone is battling something deeper on the inside than what they may be revealing on a day-to-day basis.”
