To be honest, I'm not sure where this one came from. I sat down to start something, and four hours later, I had this. Of course, a couple of J's and Jean-Michel Jarre on the stereo probably had something to do with it.

impressive...most impressive. watch out for the lava! you know how well the relationship between lava and anakin skywalker worked out. if i had your drawing talent one thing i would experiment with is different colored lightsabers. my own personal saber is a bright orange color(or its supposed to be...i cant draw for shit). traditional sith blades are always red but i encourage individuality....which is a dangerous thing for a sith to do but what the hell....darth maul had his gimmick, which by the way was invented by the sith lord exar kun some 4,000 years before darth maul was hatched. next time you make a combat picture maybe you could see how a sun yellow or orange saber would look. or maybe a white one...you know..kind of bright silver colored. theres even been multicolored ones in the expanded universe...shimmery effects. star wars technical stuff has never been my thing but from what i know of lightsabers its the focusing gem that determines the color of the blade. lots of different colored gems in the galaxy. i would think that a diamond would make that bright silver color....i guess..i dunno. i hope thats something that we'll see in the upcoming movies. in my opinion the traditonal blue, red and green is just lack of imagination. thats one thing i like about your purple saber...its different. one of these days i wont be surprised to see some of your work in the official star wars magazine

drkjedi, thanks for your input on the pic.

I will be using different colors in future scenes. Just for your personal information, it's not really the focusing crystal tht determines the blade color. It is most likely the gasses used in the creation of the blade. Contrary to popular belief, a lightsaber is not really a "Laser Sword".

Funky, Dave! I like the setting; the Lava's nicely done.

One suggestion for future images, though. I don't know what kind of costume wardrobe Poser lets you work with, but you might want to look into some boots if you're going to be in such hostile environments. Frostbite on Hoth is not fun. Though I suppose the whole mystic body control discipline thing of Fire-walking works here. Still, some cool efects could be had with cloaks & such.

As for the matter of Blue, Red & Green blades being unimaginative, they were the colors that consistently showed up best against the backgrounds, so that's why Lucas chose them. It's purely a matter of the technology at ILM's disposal, not that of the Jedi. Still, I like the "Darksaber" my brother designed for a Sith Lord in his Tales of the Jedi campaign, which was purple-black with lots of "Kirby Krackle".
