Regarding Tickling art:
In all this time, one sketch. Nothing else is new.
In other news:
- College kids have finals... I have tests, sure, but I also have MASSIVE (near epic) papers to do! Nameley on the Bobo the clown studies ( Violence, Learning, and Aggressive behaviour) , as well as on Japanese Cultural Imperialism in America ( The rise of Naruto, Onepiece... That kind of crap, and how they have influenced american culture as well as today's media. To sum up what I have gathered so far, Manga, the precursor to Anime, was made in World-War 2, and became increasingly popular overseas in the 1950s. Most of the anime style was inspired by greats from the west, among them Disney and Warner-Brothers. My favourite Manga-Hero, Lupin the third, in fact was inspired by a European Cartoon Hero by a certain Maurice le Blanc, Arsne Lupin. The artistic style by the Manga-Ka, Monkey-Punch, for the Manga was inspired incredibly by Don Martin, who was an artist for MAD Magazine. The mangas were, from what I understand, very coarse stuff. Put bluntly, he did more than 'Tickle' women. XDD
However his image was cleaned up in the Anime, and he was portrayed more as a 'Robin-Hood' type than a horny, greedy bastard.
a few Mangas and animes have some pretty popular followings (to drive my point home, I'm going to have to mention Poke'mon, and Naruto, but there are also threads here that are dedicated to a... diffrent aspect of basically the same thing!
And they have influenced Western Culture and media as well. Name a cartoon that uses a familliar western style Like Popeye or Looney-Tunes. Exactly.
And there are Americanized anime shows on the rise, like 'Winx' and 'Avitar, the Last Air-Bender', even the 'Teen Titans', based LOOSELY on the comic-books. (Trust me, if you're here, and you have no Idea about these shows, all you need to do is browse. you don't even need to leave the site. 😉 )
Sorry to waste your guys's time putting that out there. I got more to say, but I don't want to do it in one post, or flood the General discussion thread. But getting most of that out of the way, I WOULD like to discuss this, if anyone in TTC-land is interested. 🙂
