Fox is advertising a "reality TV" show called "Joe Millionaire" (or as my best friend and I call it "who wants to be a gold-digger)

This show follows along the lines of "The Bachelor" and "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire", except this show has a unique twist.

The person is not really a millionaire, but the ladies don't know that. They think he is worth $50 million.

So can true love survive a little 50-million-dollar lie?

I have enjoyed watching some of the reality shows. (There was even some tickling on the past summer's edition of Big Brother House. 😀 )

But outright fraud does not appeal to me, so I'll skip this Joe Millionaire.

It's an improvement over the original Bachelor, in which all the participants must have been either vile or deluded, though I never saw it either the first or second time around. The egoism required of the solo person, and then the various categories of contestants: those really mainly interested in being televised, those for whom the triumph over the losers matters more than the prize, worst of all those who fool themselves into thinking the experience might constitute a chance for True Love - they're all very unpleasant people, as Alice said.

This version has the flavour of a cruel joke being played on people who deserve it and may accidentally manage to learn something valuable from the experience, but it still feels too much like arranging a train wreck just for the pleasure of rubbernecking.

Regardless of the premise, "reality TV" is as unrepresentative of reality as television can possibly get. However, I'm interested in hearing a description of the tickling that went on during Big Brother House. Perhaps these shows are good for something after all! Happy Holidays, everyone. :santasmil

There was a thread about it at the time, in the Mainstream forum. A young man named Jason had his feet tickled by one of the young women in the house. He did not laugh out loud, but grinned and said that he enjoyed it, and she kept it up for maybe ten seconds on camera.

A MAN was tickled, Mila? Bah, humbug! Thanks for answering my question, though. 😛

Please no more reality shows. I don't want anymore reality. I watch TV to escape reality not see more of it. Make more shows like "Baywatch" see that wasn't reality but I liked watching it. If I want reality I can go back to my boring mundane life.

Any person who tries to marry anybody, just because of the size of his/her wallet deserves to get screwed (and not in the sexual sense, either).

I think that show should be called "Who Wants to Be a Gold-Digging *****".

I want to watch it for that very reason. I want to see the look on the *****'s face that wins when she finds out she's engaged to a poor guy instead of a millionaire.

Although nowing FOX, they'll probably cheat and force a happy ending on them. Make up this whole final scene where she says "I don't care how much money you have, I still love you" and then when the camera's turned off, they never see each other again.
