My Grandparents and Parents loved the Beatles and were devastated by his death. I grew up listening to them as well as their solo albums and have most of their cds and dvds. He was assassinated 11 years before I was born and will be 30yrs ago Dec. 8. They influenced so many people. The radio stations have already started playing So This Is Christmas and there is to be a special on CNN this weekend. Any thoughts?

Thats a great song Izzy....ive loved Lennon and his music since i was 9 years old

It's hard to imagine that he would be seventy years old..it's hard to imagine that i talked my parents into letting me stay up to watch their debut on the Ed Sullivan show..it's hard to imagine that the Beatles would be remembered forever..it's hard to imagine John Lennon not among us anymore..and hasn't been with us for thirty years..

It's not hard to imagine how much i loved him..he was my favorite Beatle..as Paul was my sister's..he will never die as long as his music is played..

One small insect did not destroy this crop..this crop lives on and on.

Yes i saw that show too....guess were about the same age....I went down to the Dakota in NY during the summer of 1980...hung around for a while,to see if he would come out, but never did...little did I know he would be killed on that very spot a few months later

wow..are you fifty five or there about?? lol...yes o i can still remember..they sang I wanna hold your hand..and i stood there in the living room and screamed right along with the audience lol..damn but i had such a crush on John..

Yes....got my age right on!!! Yeah thank God for U Tube...hadnt seen all that footage for years, now its all over the place.

I liked John Lennon right up until I learned he left his 1st son just like his father left him and never made it up to him.

That is a great song Isabeau, no doubt about it. That insect didn,t damage his legacy but it took him away from us, that is so sad and now George is gone as well. Their music will never die. Why couldn,t they have stayed will us just a little longer?

the sad thing is..the insect still lives..and what is even worse..and what i truly cannot forgive him about..is John actually taking the time to autograph an album for the creep, that same day..the irony..i mean most uh...famous people hate signing autographs...yet here was John, doing it willingly and kindly..

Forgive me Izzy but that "Insect" is a human being and as I seem to recall the reason he shot John was due to mental instability. I could be wrong but if I'm right then please don't resort to hate and call other humans insects. We shouldn't resort to the same methods monsters resort too.

The irony is that the tax payers, including Yoko and Sean have to pay to keep that insect alive. I wonder how you would feel if this was your Dad. I know that he is mentally ill but I,m not certain of how much comfort that brings his family, thats all.

If it was my Dad I would hope he would feel proud that I wouldn't resort to hate by simply blowing the man away with a gun just because I wanted revenge on a man who was insane and thus deserving pity.

As for comfort to Lenon's family, the world is full of suffering everyday and while I'm sorry Yoko lost her husband and Sean lost his father, many people all over the world have lost far more than that (such as MULTIPLE OR ENTIRE SWATHS OF THEIR FAMILIES and friends). Again, I sympathize with them but the world isn't perfect and they need to accept that. They should grieve and move on...not seethe with hate.

Why should the world have to learn how to put up with unacceptable behavior{murder} from anyone whether it,s an individual, group or an army. That man was mentally unstable and the people who were close to him knew it. It never should have got to the point where he was homicidal, and yes, people lose their loved ones in any variety of ways, I know, I,m one of them.

I'm not saying they should put up with it. They should accept it and then if they want to make a difference then by all means go out there and campaign for better care for the mentally unstable and better watch dog policies for people who might be predicted to commit crimes due to being unwell mentally. To deny though that bad things are going to happen in the world is like trying to stop the sun from rising and setting.

Believe me, I,m not denying anything but we are getting off topic and I,m as responsible as anyone for getting into the politics surrounding this tragedy. There will always be different opinions. John Lennons name will always be linked to that of Mark David Chapman and perhaps that is the biggest tragedy of all.

I remeber that Ed Sullivan show too. I also remember the beatles having 7 of the top 40 songs on the charts at one time. I started playing the drums because I thought it would be cool to be like Ringo Starr.

I'm just quoting from a song..sorry if i offended..and my mother suffered from horrible mental instability..so much so that it eventually killed her. so i know about mental illness..trust me. http://www.tickletheater.com/blog.php?b=41

Who knows how many more wonderful songs would have been written if John Lennon would still be around.

I remember watching an interview with George Martin and he said that John had one of those voices that could give you chills, they were playing A Day In The Life in the background. I agree.

If anything, he was a good singer. Yes he was a jerk to his 1st wife and son (maybe jerk is too light [I mean he just up and left them]) and yes he wasn't the nicest person on the planet but DAMN COULD HE SING OR COULD HE SING! That's coming from a guy whose favorite beetles member is Ringo.

Also, my apologies Izzy if I made ya bring up some bad memories of your past. I'm sure your Mom is resting at peace and waiting to be reunited one day with you.

Guess, I should go and try and buy any of his albums then. 🙂

And poor you Izzy. 🙁
