John Ritter-Gone Ten Years..

In addition to being the anniversary of one of the worst days in the history of the world, today is also another very somber anniversary.

Ten years ago tonight, on the set of the ABC sitcom 8 Simple Rules.. actor John Ritter collapsed, and later died.. of aortic dissection of the heart. He was only 54, and was taken from us far too soon. I can't believe it's been ten years since that horrible night. I remember being the first one to post the tragic news on the forum. I heard the news upon awakening on the morning of September 12, 2003. It was the most heartsick I'd ever felt about any celebrity passing.

R.I. P. John. You were a comic genius. It's heartbreaking that you passed away at such a young age.

I was looking into him recently infact not knowing the 10th aniversary was so close. I remember the very night it happened. Rather morning since i caught the report at 4am. I wonder how his daughter is holding up? I remember the news report saying his little girl will always remember daddy died on my birthday.

Awsome guy, Great actor. I even remember lucille ball speaking so fondly of him.

Also the man who brought us some of the most classic tickle scenes any of us can remember.

Yes, he was a great guy, and a wonderful actor. You're right, the tickle scenes he did of his roommates on Three's Company were awesome.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Ritter...twice!!! In '81 at "Hollywood Stars Night" at Dodger Stadium. He, along with Tom Hanks and I, shared left field during batting practice!! (I threw BP for the Dodgers at the time) They were both truly nice guys...and they both wanted to know more about my baseball career (spent 3 years in the minors)...than I did about their careers!!! Then 2 or 3 years later...when my brother worked on "Three's a Crowd"...I attended a taping of the show. My brother took us backstage afterwards and got to meet him, again!! Still the same, nice guy with more questions for me, than I had for him!!! (I didn't even ask him if he remembered me, from Dodger Stadium) DOH!!! BTW...still got the baseball with his, Tom Hanks and other celebs. signatures, from that night!!!
Anyway...hard to believe it's been 10 years!!! R.I.P. John!!!

Yes, Mr Ritter was an amazing talent, and probably one of the best physical comedians in history.
