This has been an ongoing debate for a while among Kill Bill fans. What do you think?

Is Kill Bill one movie that is divided into two parts or are they two separate films; an original followed by its sequel?

I never read the original story/graphic novel that seems to have inspired these two movies, but I will say this: I watched the two of them back-to-back, and it seemed very much like a continued story line... one movie divided into two parts.

I wasn't exactly impressed with how Kill Bill 2 started out, though. Seemed a little clunky... but I did enjoy the back story that came out in the second part, though.

Right. I view it as one story, continued...also considering they're called "volumes," which implies more of a part thing than the other. Quentin is not the type of person to use titles like that lightly, without a good reason.

Kill bill is one whole movie that had to be separated, otherwise it would be a four hour movie!

I really enjoyed part 1 for what it was--a balls-out self-indulgent entertainment--but after it was over I felt no need to watch part 2. And so I still haven't gotten around to it.

Even at his best, Tarantino can always use some editing.

Vol. 2 is the "connection movie" where more of the story of Kill Bill is developed. It tells the name of "the bride" , shows who Bill is, shows what happened to the Brides baby, it tells why the "deadly viper assassination squad was sent to kill the bride, shows what happens to the remaining assassins and ties up all loose ends that where vaguely discussed in Vol. 1

Vol. 2 is just as equaly important as Vol. 1...It's a nonlinear story that cannot make complete sense unless you watch them both.

Please...

Do not see VOL. 1 and 2 as separate movies that are unrelated... they are one and the same...

Just split to conserve time...

I hear ya. I'm just saying I walked away from pt. 1 not feeling the need to know any of that stuff. I fully enjoyed it, but I felt like I'd gotten all the Kill-Billness I needed in my life.

I might see part 2 someday, but it's not on my queue right now.
