CHAPTER TWENTY
On The Road
It was closing time. Caroline looked up at the clock but the two strangers hadn't returned: Bobby & Tom. She had hoped they would.
After tickling her, Tom told her everything: Kittletown, Gregory, the mission, everything. Caroline listened with excitement. Surely, this was the kind of place she had dreamed of, ever since she had been tickled as a young girl. Ever since she told her dates how ticklish she was in hopes that they would use that knowledge against her. They always did and she loved it.
They said that they would return; perhaps go out for a late snack and talk about things. She wanted to leave this place so badly. She had enough of guys from this town: all Blankers as Bobby and Tommy would call them.
She loved the idea of Kittletown. She loved the whole philosophy. But what she really loved was the idea that the youth was paving the way; that the boys had a mission. She wanted to be part of that mission.
What would she do, she had asked them when they talked. Enlighten the world to tickling. Go from town to town, introduce the Tickling Machine, use the Formula, convert people. Caroline was dying to use the juice. She also feared what enhanced sensitivity to tickling would do to her. So many questions.
The doors opened and the two boys stood there, smiling.
"We've decided that it would be great if you were to come with us."
Caroline looked deep into Tom's eyes. There was a glimmer. Could she be falling for this guy so quickly?
"I'll get my things," Caroline heard herself say as if in a dream.
"Oh, one thing, Caroline," Bobby said stopping her in her tracks. "Only the sleeveless clothes."
"Oh," she said. "But I have so many beautiful things..."
Bobby produced a long, switchblade from his back pocket. It shined black until the silver button was pressed with his thumb. A sleek, shiny blade whipped around and clicked into place. The sight of it made Caroline gasp. Then Bobby smiled.
"Looks like we'll have to get busy then and cut off a few sleeves," Bobby said and Tom just about collapsed with laughter. Caroline could only stare and chuckle although the sight of the knife and everything made her a little uneasy.
Was she doing the right thing? Never been this impulsive before.
The boys sat themselves down on a bench outside of the closed pub. They had been talking about the next city they were going to and how they were going to release a little Formula into each city's water supply. They also talked about their new partner and ticklish lust ensued.
It seemed like they were talking for hours as they waited for her. Just as they began to feel that Bobby's knife show had scared Caroline off they saw two female figures approaching. As the females began to come into the light the boys noticed one to be Caroline holding a suitcase. Next to her was a short brunette who was quite cute.
"Who the hell is that?" Bobby asked with obvious interest.
The girls approached the two boys and Caroline seemed out of breath.
"I'm sorry it took so long, guys, but I called an old friend. Boys, this is Laura. She knows all about you and Kittletown, everything. She wants to join the pack."
The boys looked at each other. Tom spoke first, anxious to find out all about Laura. "Is she..."
"Very," Caroline said, anticipating the question.
Caroline and the others began walking towards the car.
"Wait until I tell you what Laura did to me on my 17th birthday. She is a regular tickle-maniac."
"Is that true?" Bobby asked.
"Just try me," Laura said as she grabbed the ribs of all three causing quite a stir in that little town at 2:00 in the morning.
