V Graham Norton was on tonight and his main guest was none other than Terrence Stamp, the actor who played General Zod in the Superman series. He and Graham talked for a bit about his various film roles, including the Superman one. The best bit occured when Graham Norton told Terrence that the crew had taken a poll of people coming in night and asked them if they had any "super powers". One guy apparently said he could bend his thumb, (Eh?????????????) one girl said she could bite her own toe-nails and duly demonstrated, 🙂D😀😀) and a third guy said he could do one finger press-ups. As his was the most impressive when demonstrated, Norton got him down on the stage and told him to go behind this screen type thing and dress in the costume that was there.
Two minutes later he emerged, dressed as General Zod himself!!!! ( Much to Stamp's hilarity I might add!🙂 )As is the wont for the poor suckers Norton picks on, this guy then went out onto the streets of the city (don't know which one) armed with a megaphone and an earpiece. Stamp and Norton had him running up and down the road bellowing "KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!!!" at the passers by.He then tried his hand at flying by leaping heroically off a bench, which was just as sucessful as the commanding the public.
The piece de' resistance was when Norton told him to try and pick a nearby car up! The bloke trogged over and duly hauled the car off the road and into the air, before chucking it across the pavement! It was a dummy car, made out of carboard or something and by now the local citizenry were rolling around in stitches on the pavements, and to be honest so was I.
It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen and knowing that General Zod is a member of the TMF 🙂D) I just had to post about it. I would have given anything to have done it myself though. I can imagine me stepping out from behind the screen in the studio and bellowing at the crowd, "Son of Jor-El, KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!!" As Mimi can testify, I'm a pretty handy voice artist and can mimic Terrence Stamp's rendition faithfully! Now that would have been something to post about, eh? 😉
