Up until now I’ve been strictly a fiction writer here on the forum, mostly because I choose to keep my private life separate from here. However, I felt like sharing a true experience that happened over the weekend.
First of all, I’m happily married. Now those of you who follow my series have often commented on how real they seem. And trust me, they are works of fiction. I do however put a lot of the love of my life into my main character, Krista. I’ve also put a little of me into Billy.
This experience isn’t about her, it’s about me. I was honestly surprised this happened because I’m not ticklish, at all. In my lifetime, I’ve had older female relatives try it with me, and it just irritated me because I couldn’t stand being held down and poked in an attempt to make me laugh. I’ve even had girlfriends in the past try when we’re playing around, and nothing.
Over the weekend, we were cuddling on the couch watching football. She was laying down, with her arms wrapped around my left arm, and in what I suppose was from trying to get her hands warm was wiggling her fingers a little.
It was driving me crazy, mostly because I’d never had this reaction before, and was genuinely surprised. I really didn’t know how to react, and she had no clue what I was laughing about. I panicked and told her I was laughing at something the announcer said.
She’d tried it before when we first began dating, and it didn’t work. So she gave up, citing how unfair it was every time I’d tickle her.
In my stories, Billy had only recently discovered, by accident, that he had a few ticklish spots as well, and it was likely due to his strong emotional bond with Krista. As I write this, I probably realize that this sounds crazy. But there’s two possibilities.
#1 Life is imitating art, and my stories are effecting me on a deep level. Which is possible because I’ve felt much more affectionate since I started.
#2 It’s because I share a strong bond with someone I’m deeply in love with and she connects with me on a level that nobody has before. And this only works with her.
