A Concordia University professor is dead after being struck by lightning while camping in Killarney Provincial Park near Sudbury.
48-year-old Victor Rossokhaty, his son and another man, huddled in a tent during a severe thunderstorm Tuesday night in a remote part of the park.
A lightning bolt hit in the area of the tent and was so powerful it pushed the man to the floor of the tent. Rossokhaty's son immediately performed CPR but it took several hours before emergency crews could reach the remote location.
Rossokhaty was a computer-engineering professor at Concordia for three years.
