little help plz!

so,
i have some clips that were given to me in MP4 (mpeg-4?) format, and my slow ass computer doesnt want to play them without massive amounts of lag.

ive found a few of those clips in WMV format and dont have this problem.

will some kind of mp4 to wmv converter help? if so, suggestions?

is realplayer and quicktime inadequate for playing mp4?

I've used the free Media Convert site with no problems, but I don't know if converting the file would help it run faster. Media Convert supports MP4 (AAC) to WAV, MP3, OGG, AMR, FLAC, MPC, MMF, AU, AIFF, QCP.

Real Player and Quicktime are awful, in my experience. Many people I know recommend the free VLC Player for Windows, Quicktime, and Real formats.
