The chat room is working fine as of 22:30EST 2/25. Several people have been in it all night, so the problems was on your end I fear.
It's a glitchy room. Sometimes it behaves poorly for some users for no real reason.

Are you getting a blank grey box with a message stating something like "can't be instantiated?" If so, it's probably a problem with your java thingy (sorry to use such advanced computer terminology.) It happens to me all the time, and restarting the computer usually does the trick.
