Lucid Dreaming

Lucid dreaming has always interested me, however Ive never been able to accomplish it despite trying a couple of different methods.

Im also interested to hear if other folks have had experiences lucid dreaming.

Yes, I have. For reasons I haven't bothered looking into; I can also plan or map out my dreams before falling asleep. I just chalk it up to a good imagination.

Lucid dreaming is pretty fun. If a dream lasts long enough, I can usually control what's happening about midway through.

Typically, I treat the dream as if I'm a director on a movie set. If something I don't like happens, I yell "cut" and then starting telling people what places to take and such.

I have had lucid dreams before but they are fairly infrequent and usually don't last very long but I always look forward to it when I have one. So far haven't had too much luck controlling the dream for more than a few seconds at a time. You generally can't alter it too much or you altered in ways that you don't intend. I haven't really had many lucid dreams involving sexual themes either. But I think the more you concentrate and try to prolong the more likely you are to wake yourself up.

I agree with this.

I dream quite often, usually the pleasurable or bizarre sort of dreams - sometimes I am very aware that I'm dreaming and can definitely control the direction the dream takes, but there is a still an element of the dream that I don't control - it's like I'm an actor in my dream playing a part - I can try to influence the other characters by my actions/words, but there's another element somewhere in the brain controlling the other bits and other people I can't control...so the dreams still have the potential to go horribly wrong or pleasantly surprise me. Still very vivid though.

The more aware of the dream I become the more likely I am to either reach a point where I'm really just lying awake fantasizing, or I become conscious enough to be disturbed by other factors going around me (birds tweeting for example) and will wake up.

You can practice lucid dreaming by trying to look at your hands the moment you realize you're dreaming. It's harder than you think and takes practice, but it's an exercise meant to help you stay in the dream longer.

I would have to agree with you about the limits of control within lucid dreams. These dreams have occurred naturally with me since I was approximately 10 years old, and primarily integrate bizarre elements that extend beyond my conscious or subconscious control. Often times, the controlled part of my dreams occur during "fight or flight" circumstances or investigative scenarios. All in all, I can't say that I love or hate the dreams and ponder the meaning of it all when I awake.

If anyone is trying to induce this state though; the common denominator for me is usually late work hours (sleep deprivation) followed by sleeping on my back. Just food for thought.

I just wanted to share with you guys something that happened to me.
Some weeks ago. I was dreaming. and somehow. I was pretty much aware about the fact i was in a dream.
I tried to see my face in a mirror. however. i couldnt. the mirror was too blurry.

Someone else have experienced the same?

Greetings.
John here's a dream interpretation page I found for yours.WEBPAGE_20150414_015326.jpg

I don't know if it's te same, but every now and then when I'm sleeping, I suddenly wake but my body wouldn't response. A couple of minutes happens before I could actually move normally. Sometime it's like I can walk around the house seeing everything. Never tried to see my mirror. It's kinda scary, but it's usual to me so I'm used. It's a very intriguing mystery.
