Thanks for the views! Unfortunately, I was at work during the best viewing times here on the Gulf of Mexico, in the USA. Currently, it's about 1:15 am, and the moon is so bright it's casting shadows. Quite beautiful.
You guys in the Americas get your eclipse later in the year - it won't be visable from Europe. We were very lucky in having completely clear skies - about 1 in 5 chance here on the coast. Today it's pouring with total cloud cover.
A friend pointed out that the last picture shows the face of the Man in the Moon. I couldn't see it until he said think Jack Skellington from "The Nightmare Before Halloween" and that worked. Just to the left of the bright patch are the two "eyes" with the "nose" and "mouth" below.
Eek! That "man-in-the-moon" pic was awesome. I had always wondered what-the-f*** people meant when they said that. Saw it plain as can be. Now I'm scarred for life!
Anyway, I'm not so sure about the eclipse not being visible to us here Stateside. I had heard on the radio heading into work that it would be visible, especially to those of us over on the Eastern seaboard of this country.
This one was visable over there - just not well placed. The Moon rose partially eclipsed.
For us it was perfect - dark skies and clear. The one later in the year (August 28th) is not visable for us but great for you. Hope it's clear for any watchers.
Nice pictures...unfortunately for me in Liverpool the city lights kind of ruined it, but it was an experience all the same. I dread to think how old I'll be for the next one 😛
So, prior to the eclipse t'other night, it appeared to be a big, glorious full moon. Do werewolves revert to human form during the point where the Earth shadow passes across the moon? Sort of a hairy time-out before resuming their howling rampage?
