Some of you may have noticed (or may not have, depending on your skills of observation) many mentions of the LXG and the UCB around the forum. You may have even taken notice of logos popping up like gang signs. There are those among you who may find that a bit scary. But fear not! Out of the kindness of my heart, and my willingness to educate, I have made this thread so that you may better understand both of these groups and not fear them.
1. What's in a name?
What do those funny little acronyms mean?, you may ask yourself. Well, the LXG stands for the Lean of Extraordinary Gentlemen. This is a bit of a misnomer as female and male members alike are welcome and considered equals among the Lean. There is no discrimination amongst the LXG. As long as you have the Lean in you, you could be included as a member.
But what is the Lean?, you may ask. The Lean is not just about leaning on lampposts and various pieces of furniture. It's a state of mind and being. To lean is to be laid back, not let things bother you and to just let the various problems and insults you encounter in the course of life to just roll off you. It's akin to reaching a sort of zen with yourself and your environment. If someone were to ask you "how's it going?" and you answered "leanin'", the questioner would know that you are relaxed and not letting things bother you. They would understand that you are in tune with everything around you.
The opposite number of the LXG would be the UCB, or Upright Citizen's Brigade. These people, under no circumstances, will ever lean. People of the UCB tend to be very uptight, angry at the world and very anal retentive about pretty much everything. But the one thing that angers them the most is their own inability to lean. Most times, this inability is either due to a birth defect or an unwillingness to just let things go, though there have been some reported cases of other means to not lean.
2. Theme music...every good hero should have it
A prime way of telling the difference between these two groups, apart from their mannerisms, is their theme music. Both the LXG and the UCB have their own and thru this music, you can easily tell the difference between the two. For example, this is the theme music of the LXG...
<object width="250" height="40"> <param name="movie" value="http://listen.grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf"></param> <param name="wmode" value="window"></param> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param> <param name="flashvars" value="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&widgetID=7932000&style=metal&p=0"></param> <embed src="http://listen.grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="250" height="40" flashvars="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&widgetID=7932000&style=metal&p=0" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="window"></embed></object>
Wasn't that nice? A soft rhythm, a good beat, laid back and mellow. True LXG music. But on the other end, we have the UCB music, which is a little less inviting...
<object width="250" height="40"> <param name="movie" value="http://listen.grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf"></param> <param name="wmode" value="window"></param> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param> <param name="flashvars" value="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&widgetID=7932197&style=metal&p=0"></param> <embed src="http://listen.grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="250" height="40" flashvars="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&widgetID=7932197&style=metal&p=0" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="window"></embed></object>
This song is an indication as to how out of touch with the times and reality the UCB are. Without question, the UCB are the original squares.
3. Just who the hell are these guys anyway?
Membership in these groups is as varied as their respective tastes in music. For instance, here are a few of the members of the LXG...
Kraziedog - One of the co-founders of the LXG, Jay is a known by almost everyone here. Defender of his friends and loved ones, well-liked by most, feared by those who don't like him. He has helped to bring the word of the Lean to the modern world. His is a beacon of light and hope to all things Lean.
Tklee88 - The Spice of the Lean, Katie brings her smile and wide-eyed wonderment to the LXG. She adds the spice (hence her name) to the group, making leaning even easier than ever.
LeeAllure - A lady who truly needs no introduction, but I'll introduce her anyway. Amongst her peers of the LXG, she is Lee'nAllure. She proudly wears her title as an honorary member, but still diligently works from the sidelines to help promote the Lean.
Sasaxrah - The First Lady of the LXG has all the poise, wit and charm that you'd expect from someone who bears such a title. She brings much intelligence and grace to the LXG. It was, in fact, what gained her the attention of the LXG in the first place.
There are many other members of the LXG, as they are open about who their members are. And those members, in turn, wear their badge proudly. This does not hold true of the UCB however. The majority of their members is shrouded in secrecy. They hide their status in the UCB more carefully than a gay right-winger holding political office. Recently though, four members were brought to the light...
Baldadonis - codename: Mouthpiece, Overlord of the UCB. Dave is something that is highly despised in this world, even by his own kind. Yes, Baldadonis is a lawyer. That pretty much speaks for the caliber of person he is. But despite all his posturing, Dave secretly yearns to be a member of the LXG, and can often be heard to say things like "did I lean that time?", "have I shown any lean yet?" and "d'oh, I can't believe I missed my chance to lean again".
Impaler - codename: Tool-man, Chief Constable of the UCB. Chris was born with absolutely no lean in him. On top of that, he's spent most of his life getting himself into situations only because he always does what others ask him, no matter how obvious it is that he will be used. Even after having been made Chief Constable, he fails to see how he is being used by Dave to reach his own goal of becoming a member of the LXG.
Gothfreakhell - codename: Shirtless Wonder. While holding no known official rank in the UCB, this pierced bald freak has shown himself blatantly to be a strong affiliate with them. He was a bit of a mystery as to why he would join such a group. With all the metal in his face, it would be assumed that he would naturally lean. But it was recently discovered that Goth suffers from a condition called Rigidus Spinengitis, that causes one to remain upright at all times. This condition has angered him to the point that he wishes to try and destroy all things that are lean.
Venray - codename: Methusalah. Ray is an obvious member of the UCB in the fact that if he ever tried to lean, he would topple over and crumble into a pile of dust and cobwebs. But Ray's problem goes much deeper. Legend has it that Ray was once an OL (Original Leaner). Back in colonial times, Ray led the 24th Leaning Brigade of Massachusetts, better known as the "Mean Leaners", to many key victories against the British in America's fight for independence. Ray became bitter about the fact that he was passed over to lead America's troops in favor of then unknown General Washington, Ray's old rival for his then sweetheart, Martha. Incensed beyond all reason, Ray went insane over the snubbing he received and has since tried to remove the Lean from every day life.
4. What the hell does this have to do with me?
Nothing, really. This is merely meant to inform you of who to watch out for in your travels around the forum. If you see an LXG member, extend a warm greeting and you will receive the same in kind. If approached by a member of the UCB, it is best to shout, "NO!" over and over and throw rocks at him until he leaves you alone. Remember, you should always be prepared in case something like this ever happens simply because it can happen at any time.
I hope you have found this unbiased report to be informative and useful. Take care and have a pleasant tomorrow.
