I had a question that I was hoping someone could give me advice on.

Have any forum members experienced Lyme Disease, and if so, what were the symptoms?

For the past. two or three days.. I've had an ugly red blotch on the top of my right foot, that doesn't seem to the going away. It doesn't look like any mosquito bite or bee sting that I've ever seen or had.

It's red, somewhat puffy, burns, itches, and almost looks like it has a slight red scab.

I've tried.., Aloe Lotion, Neo Sporin, Hot compresses, nothing seems to work. '

Any advice would be appreciated. Also.. of course., I was wondering if my situation could be the symptoms of Lyme Disease? Thanks.

Typically Lyme disease is caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi through a tick bite. Here is the CDC website with symptoms/signs: http://www.cdc.gov/lyme/.

As far as I know, there is normally a characteristic bulls' eye pattern to the rash associated with it, but that is not always seen. In dogs, Lyme disease causes systemic problems like septic arthritis, low platelets, low red blood cells, and swollen glands or lymph nodes. It sounds to me like you may have a spider bite or a skin infection. I would consider consulting a dermatologist or your GP (dermatology consults can take up to 3 months to get an appointment sometimes).

Thanks for the advice, des. I'm going to get in touch with a Dr/

My aunt thinks that I might have picked up some form of infection.. or bacteria, at the gym.

Whatever it is, I'm going to deal with it.

If it gets super painful and swollen, spreading to the rest of your foot, go to the ER. My sister had something similar which turned out to be cellulitis which almost ended up making her septic. If you have the ability to see a doctor in the next few days (if it doesnt go away or get better) do it. Better safe than sorry, though it doesnt sound serious from what I can tell. Again, im no expert, though.

Thanks, Mairead.

It looks like it may be a bit better this morning, but I'm going to continue the compresses, lotion, and Neosporin. Hopefully it will go away soon.
