Major Heat Wave Ahead For Northeast, Mid Atlantic.

A major, brutal, heat wave will be occurring this week across the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states.

High Temps for NYC most of this week will be in the mid to upper 90s, with Thursday forecasted to reach a peak of a blazing 98 degrees! The heat wave is supposed to last into next weekend at least.

Neither am I, kop. My plan is to go outside and do anything I have to early in the days, and stay in my apartment working the rest of the time. God willing if my AC stays on, even though it is only one wall unit, I will get through.

It was 117 for almost a week! I think people in AZ and NV, should have a sunscreen 'n nudist summer.

Not only is it supposed to be brutally hot,. but also very humid as well.

Today's high was a beastly 95, with heat index around 100 or more. I went to Austin St for lunch. What makes it worse is that my apt is a western exposure, so the worst sun of the afternoon and early evening, when temps are the hottest, beats in. Thank heaven I do have one window unit AC, but it honestly isn't of much help. If I sit at my desk, just a few feet away from it, or lie in my bed, a few feet away, or certainly if I'm in another area of the room in my apartment, the AC has little or no effect.

I just have a window unit as well. But I figure out the edge of the window units range and just put a fan at that point to send the cold air to other parts of that room and other rooms in my apartment. Don't know if that'll work for you but give it a shot.

That's a great idea, Feather. I thank you for the advice. Unfortunately, I don't have a fan in my apartment, just the window unit AC. Tomorrow I'm going to buy a fan, and try what you suggested.

I heard in some MD Areas, Possible 110+ Heat Index. Thank God I have a Pool lol.

The Heat Index was close to 130 Near/In Death Valley a couple weeks ago. I can't even Imagine.

Heat Wave in the Northeast is like Tuesday here in the south....a taste of everyday life in July here.

Right now, the Weather Channel website says the temp in Forest Hills is a frigid 96. Supposedly, the humidity isn't that bad today, and the heat index is "only" 99. The humidity is supposed to spike tomorrow, with temps again in the mid to upper 90s.

95 here and moist-blanket humid. The cafe with the usually-trusty A/C is unusually warm. Hope it didn't break down.

I just had the filter in my AC cleaned out. It was filthy, lol. With the sun having finally gone down, the AC is coming through a little stronger, thankfully, so hopefully I will be able to sleep. I'm sure that the next two days, during the day, will be just as broiling as today was.

Temp as I edit this post at.. 230pm, in Forest Hills, a frigid.. 99 degrees! I wonder if it will hit the century mark today. There is blazing sun, no clouds.

For those who do want cold weather.. book a flight to.. Balmaceda, Chile. Current Temp there. 30 Degrees F. It's winter there, and that would sound downright wonderful right about now.

This is supposedly the last day of this horrible heat wave. It's 96 now, with blazing sun. They say storms are coming, and then hopefully it will cool off at least somewhat.
