Anyone excited about the new Superman film that's currently in production? I know it's not being released until next year, but I'm a massive fan of Superman so I'm pretty excited about it. Quite interesting that a British actor is going to play him, as well!

I'm looking forward to getting a good Superman movie, but I'm not necessarily optimistic that this will be it. I mean, Russel Crowe AND a tug boat?

I thought the previous Superman (2006) film was really terrible. But I just get the feeling that they're trying to really bring the series back to life again. And with The Dark Knight Rises being the final Batman film for a few years at least, I really hope that they can fill the gap. The world NEEDS a great Superman movie, it's that simple.

I agree. He was the first American Superhero, who gave birth to the whole genre.

It's probably the same problem they tend to have in the comic books, which is that it's hard to create credible drama around a character who is invulnerable and omnipotent.

Although I'm from England, and I think it's good that another British actor is going to star in a film like this, I honestly think that Superman in particular should definitely be played by an American actor. The first Superman film with Christopher Reeve is still my favourite superhero movie ever. Even for us Brits, he was the definition of 'all-American', and I think that should be continued, out of respect for the franchise.

Agreed that the last superman film was dross, can't believe it was a Bryan Singer film, who did Usual Suspects.

What would be even funnier if the new Superman had a regional accent.

Like Geordie, Way Aye, it's Lex Luthor!

Or Norwich, All right my lovvers!

I do look forward to this movie.Only because me and my girlfriend are in it. 😛

Hopefully we will beat the shit out of Superman.

I'm looking forward to the new Superman movie. I guess I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed Superman Returns in which Kevin Spacey plays Lex Luthor. I haven't seen any Superman depiction that I didn't like.

I really enjoyed the Smallville series, though that 10-year ride did have a few bumps along the way.

Im really excited! I did not like the last one that came out. Hopefully they can do this one right.

This. The more godlike a character is (Superman, Thor, Sentry), the harder it becomes to make them relatable to the very human audience. That's why heroes with no powers, or next to no powers (Batman, Captain America) make for such interesting reading.

To answer the OP, no, I'm not excited about a Superman reboot.

So far I'm very unimpressed by the trailer. Until the last moment of the one I have seen you really can't even tell it's Superman. At least it can't be worse than Superman Returns. It at least has that going for it.

The first time I saw the trailer with my friends. My friend and I turned to each other at first and thought that it was an Aquaman movie...seriously what the fuck was up with half the trailer being on a boat?

That being said I actually love Superman and would love to see what Zach Snyder does with it.

And even though I'm a die hard Marvel boy to the end...I really hope DC movies get out of their rut and start producing quality work for their other characters. I believe they have every right to be seen on the big screen as Batman and Superman do.

Seriously Booster Gold movie...who's with me!!?

Totally excited for the Man of Steel. I think with Nolan overlooking it and Zack's epic battle scenes (not Michael Bay), it may be the Superman for this era. No problem with Clark on a boat and changing the old lore a bit, I'm tired of seeing the old Clark Kent story.

Superman will set up any chance that the WB has to approach the JLA, time will tell. Can't wait for 2013.
p.s.- General Zod, I have a bad feeling Supes is going to get knocked around big time by you and your girl. It will be entertaining. 🙂
