Based on a true incident that was reported in the Arizona Republic:
MEDICAL MAYDAY:
A helicopter ambulance was forced to make an emergency landing while on the way to pick up a patient in Nogales, Ariz.
The pilot reported a vulture had crashed through the chopper's windshield and hit him in the chest.
Neither the pilot nor the medical personnel aboard were injured, and the pilot managed to land safely. .
He really had no choice.. medical helicopter regulations prohibit carrion luggage.
