This is sort of a pet peeve thread. Something that's not a big deal, but just irritates the hell out of you. I have a pet peeve about bad grammar, mispronounced word and (supposedly) educated people who grew up speaking english screwing up the language

There's 2 examples I can think of, off the top of my head;

1) LackSadaisical. There's no such word. It's Lackadaisical. There's only one s. I've even heard people say "Lacksydaisy" which again is not a word. You won't find it in any dictionary.
The reason I'm so bothered about this word, is that yesterday I actually heard a sports talk show host describe a basketball player as "being "occasionally lacksadaisical". WTF? This guy speaks, and communicates for a living, he's college educated, and he thinks there's 2 s's in lackadaisical? It's bad enough when a coworker, or friend says it, but when a radio announcer who's required to have a command of the english language makes that mistake, it's inexcusable. At least he didn't say Lacksydaisy. I guess maybe because it's not a word that's used very often, but when it is used, it's almost always butchered

2) Although I don't hear this particular made up word very often these days, it always bothered me when people used to say "Conversate", as in having a conversation. Again, no such word. If you're having a conversation with someone, you "converse" with them. You don't "conversate". Just like when you provide information to someone, you "inform" them, you don't "informate"

There's other's like how people online or on texts can't tell the difference between there, their and they're, but are there any verbal slip ups you guys hear everyday that just drive you nuts?

One of my pet peeves is "irregardless."
It is not a real word, and its intended meaning is the same as "regardless."

Can you pronounce......................................... ..

the name of The President of China Xi Jinping?????????????????

It irritates me when people pronounce the "T" in OFTEN. 😀

The mispronunciation of "nuclear" pisses me off to no end. I don't even know how to spell it, but you know the one. George Bush was infamous for it...

So was Jimmy Carter(a lot of people here may not be old enough to remember him.) It's not Nu-QUE-ler, it's Nu-CLEE-ur

Having grown up in New Jersey, I find it irritating when people pronounce the second word as "Joisey."

I know a guy who is a cook but can't pronounce spaghetti properly.

This infinite British/American English war and their way using of real(-ise) vs real(-ize), lab(-our) vs lab(-or); thea(-ter) vs thea(tre). Etc. etc... 🙁

I can't stand it when New Yorkers from Brooklyn or Queens say "doncha" instead of "don't you."

One of our favorite words is pronounced two different ways. I am not sure which way is preferred.

two syllables: TICK/LING

three syllables: TICK/UHL/ING

I tend to prefer the second pronunciation, myself. Tickle is two syllables, so logically, the "ing" adds another syllable. Logically to me, at least.
The two syllable pronunciation doesn't bug me or anything, nor do I think one is correct while the other is wrong. But when I think about it being pronounced that way, I automatically think of like, some old timey British gentleman saying it. XD

Another word that is pronounced two different ways: Caribbean

ca/RIB/ee/an
or
ca/ri/BEE/an

Even down there, on different islands I have heard different pronunciations.
