Mods read this pls.

I've just read a thread or two about people being annoyed at the state of the TMF chatroom. There are also people saying the community in general has completely slid downhill, and leaving because of it.
I never use the chatroom, but I've seen it, and it looks pretty shoddy. I suggest that the more net-wise mods look into getting us set up on irc. It's soooo much better than the current chatroom, and it's not hard to learn. When I was at school, loads of people used to play an online game called Planetarion, and all the serious players used mirc. The way I understand it, is that you actually register a whole server. You set up a main chatroom, but anyone can register private rooms, and then manage it how they want kicking/banning any users they want. Trust me, it would make things alot better for everyone. The community would really pick up.

The previous chat room was a lot easier on the eye and had features like the quiz and copying and pasting. Problem was that some small-minded limp-dick with even less of a life than me enjoyed going in under about 7 different names at once and scrolling SIG HEIL about 300 times across the screen at once. The room was becoming totally unusable because of concerted troll attacks.

The new room was put in because it has much greater security and allows the staff to track trolls down much more easily. As far as I know, Marauder is gradually re-writing the code to make modifications and enhance the whole thing, but I've heard nowt from him for a while now. Maybe he's busy?
