NEST Celebrates 10 Years

Proposed date: June 4, 2006

Now that the buzz has begun, I thought I would weigh in with a few words about NEST to inform people that have only heard about it through discussions, heresay. It's like the story behind some holiday where the tale needs to be told to each new generation. I'm not trying to be preumptuous and make it out to be more than it is. But, I can say, it is as important as Tickling is to you. What may be a silly little 'habit' (as it's looked upon by Muggles or Outsiders) is as important as your very personality make-up. What seems to be a party to the onlooker becomes a profound experience of validation.

History: NEST began in 1996 with a gathering of 8 men (including myself) who got together to share collectables, watch videos, chat about experiences. It was the first time we had ever gotten together with others like ourselves in an evironment that we could talk openly. It was an incredible experience. We met in the early afternoon and the party broke up late at night. It was in my apartment. We came up with the name, the NORTHEAST (for the region we were in) SOCIETY of TICKLEPHILES OR NEST. Some of those Original Eight are on this forum and I invite them to chime in if they'd like. Either way, you'll see them at the next NEST.

The one after that first had about 12 people including 1 woman (LeeAllure). We started having them twice a year at my apartment. Each year it grew in size and more women were brave enough to attend.

Happily, there never was a casualty, problem, upstart, situation, troublemaker, severe annoyer.

The last NEST at my apartment (NEST YTK) was 2000. We had 55 people stuffed in my one bedroom loft-style apartment. After that, we started renting venues. The most people that have attended so far was somewhere around 80 or 85. The last NEST had the biggest attendence of women so far (I am guessing at around 35).

This year marks our 10th year anniversary and we have a team of people helping to make this incredible, catered, tickle extravaganza the best so far.

Here are a few observations I have made over the years:

1) NEST is the Great Equalizer

We read posts from people in our Community all year. We see videos made by people in our Community. We hear rants, raves, tears, laughter, sarcasm, skepticism, praise. But once a year I call all your bluffs. You wanna hide behind your computer or come on out and show yourself. We all do it. It is absolutely, freakin' LIBERATING! The jerks have faces (usually apologetic) and are quickly forgiven, the men and women have bodies - ticklish or otherwise. The Producers have personalities. The Great Celebrities are normal people. The shy ones stay shy but they're in a room filled with others like themselves. It is a no bullshit zone. We are all the same once a year.

2) What's it like to be at a NEST?

It's a venue, usually with multiple rooms or spaces. There are various pieces of bondage equipment. There is a large table laid out with lots of food and non-alchoholic drinks and sweets. If the venue is at a club, there might be a pay bar. There is usually a place where you can sit down and relax. A TV is there showing tickling dvds all day. Many of these dvds were donated by tickling vid producers. In the past, we have had donations from Magic Touch, Frenchtickling, Last Laugh, Gig's videos, Tickle TV, and others. Many times you will see videos never before seen, rare old ones, or videos from private individuals who are willing to show them but not sell them.

The sound of laughter is the only music track in that hall. It's everywhere. People tie each other up on couches and equipment. Spontaneous tickling is always bursting out everywhere you look. You may see someone holding a foot and kissing it and tickling it. The word is EVERYWHERE. You can speak it outloud with no embarrassment. EVERYONE THERE IS EXACTLY LIKE YOU. For the first time in your life perhaps, you are validated, liberated, truly Yourself.

There are scheduled demonstrations where the crowd gathers to see a volunteer tickled. The 'Ler has already asked people in the party if they want to help out. Everyone else just watches and smiles. The 'Lee is strapped to a piece of bondage equipment. Last year, Jeff mummified Kitten and it was an incredible show.

People fall in love, find soulmates. Some who had never even tickled a person before find themselves invited to join in. If you are shy and don't feel comfortable, your desires are honored. There is no competition, no pressure. Just Acceptance.

When it's over, people cry, hug one another, exchange phone numbers, emails. Some have collectables that they picked up by trading, purchasing or won at one of our raffles. You drive or fly home longing for the next year when you can return.

3) Is it Just That One Day?

No. NEST, for me begins the day the first guests check in to a hotel in Philly. That might be 3 or 4 days before the Sunday party. We socialize, meet and greet, introduce, go out to meals, play.

The day before the party, we have a Meet and Greet party. There are refreshments and we all gather in a room or hall where we can introduce each other and finally see the face to match the name. Your 'real' name is NEVER required. You can always go by your screen names. Anonymity is the Number One requirement and it is honored faithfully.

After the Meet and Greet, we generally fall into our own little groups and there is always a lot of playing going on in the hotel rooms. On NEST weekend, it is very common to see people in pjs running down the halls in the hotel knocking on doors and joining in some fun or just hanging out and having a great time. Many times, there are videos going on in someone's room. Friends 'attack' one another and laughter echoes through the halls.

The Sunday morning before NEST we have a nervous breakfast before heading to the venue. The actual party usually lasts about 6 or 7 hours. After that, many return to the hotels for more play and fun.

4) Lastly, some important information

More about this in a separate post, but I know some may need to know this now. If you want to attend you MUST do this:

a) Email the person taking the reservations (TBA)
b) Complete a registration form (first timers only)
c) Send deposit (address TBA)

You will NOT be allowed entry if any one of the follow items apply:

1) You did not complete a screening form (first timers)
2) You are not on the list
3) You have been barred from any Gatherings in the past (unless recently approved)
4) You are intoxicated or visibly high
5) You are under 18

I hope this was informative to anyone who desired this information. I hope it was reflective and nostalgic for those who have already been there.

Registration will begin soon. Feel free to write to me personally if you want any additional information. [email protected]

Hope to see every one of you this year.

Max

Thanks Max for making this thread so that newcomers can read, learn all about what Nest is and why all of those who have attended in the past all feel a part of a Big close family and everyone who attends whether a first timer or a long time veteran of Nest, other gatherings are made comfortable, welcomed with open arms by all..

I am going to be planning to attend this year ,it will be great to see you again :wavingguy :bouncybou

i'm working on my husband. i do believe i can convince him. it would be my first Nest. there are so many from this forum that i wish to meet. it would be great to see them face to face and talk in person rather than online or on the phone. wish me luck. and if he wont come, i'll come alone. somehow i will manage this.

Ooops! I believe you're right, Old Man. Well.... 9 years is still pretty impressive. Ain't it?

Yes Mike is not only one of the original members but the guy I wrote about in the "Does Size Matter" thread who can eyeball a woman's foot size at 20 yards. He's also one of my best friends.

Nest

Hi, Max. I thought a provisional 'yes' for KittenToes and I would be both information and an excuse to use my Mimi-designed signature for the first time. (How do you like it, people?)

Let's keep our fingers crossed...

J.

I'm not one of the 8, and didn't attend my first NEST until 2002. It really is a lot of fun, and as Max says, there's nothing in the world like being together with a slew of people who all share our love of tickling. Though the name suggests the North East, I can tell you that people come from all over the country, and even from England. Now when I go, it's like a reunion of long time close friends. It's great!

Hehe maybe some day i will go, Collage is taking to much of my time and money to do anything that big. hehe its way on the other side of the county for me. It does sound like a blast. not that im hiding behind a computer or anyting im just broke.

Actually....that IS ten years....

Here's a little something I put up on our site a bit ago to share with folks about NEST. For those who are still wondering what a first time attendee would feel like, I hope it helps. We loved it so much that we've been back every year since then...always meeting new friends and enjoying the company of old ones.

EXPERIENCING NEST…THE FIRST TIME

a testimony by TklDuo-Ann

I had been invited to a NEST gathering long before I ever went to one. I'd met someone in a chat room who I got gabbing with later in IM. As we conversed and got to know one another a bit, he told me about these gatherings that took place and that there was one coming up in Philly. Since I was living in upstate NY at the time, it was about a 4-hour drive for me. It was definitely doable. But, I wasn't sure if I was ready for a big group of people. It sounded rather intimidating. So, rather than taking time off to go, I declined the invitation.

A few years later, along with my wonderful hubby, we again heard that there was a NEST gathering coming up. At that point, we'd become a bit more involved and gotten to know folks a bit more online. We'd even met our best friends in the community. If they were so cool, how bad could the rest of the community be? So, we decided to go. We signed up and went through all the usual stuff of being screened to be sure we weren't some kind of nut jobs and that there was enough room. Then, we were on our way.

It didn't take long to begin meeting people. When we got to our hotel, we were informed that our room would be a while since they were running a bit late cleaning up after a large rowdy group of athletes. So, we hung out in the lobby and called up to Jan (QBWeaver) to let her know we were there. A few minutes later, the elevator doors opened and out walked SunriseTicklee and her sister. We said hello, hugged and gabbed a bit. She really made us feel welcome. Once we were able to dump our bags off in our room, we headed to Jan's room where a few of the gang were hanging out.

We got to meet more and more folks as the day went on. Just a few hours later, it was time for the Saturday evening social gathering. The social was a great idea. It gave folks a chance to introduce themselves to everyone and get to mingle a bit. I think we hung out there for at least three hours. Then, people broke up and headed for respective rooms to hang out and gab…and play a bit too! It was a grand evening during which we felt more and more like we'd known these people for years…even though we never met any of them in real life until that day. It was a huge step in making us more at ease about the big gathering to take place the next afternoon.

On Sunday, after meeting some of the gang for breakfast, we walked up the street to the club the gathering was being held at. Though we were still a little nervous, it was much less than it would have been had we not met a good portion of the folks the night before. Once inside the club, all nerves melted away. We had this huge space with both large open and cozy private play spaces. It was really a cool setup.

Once all had arrived and the group had gathering in the main entry room, Max and Jan greeted everyone. They then introduced those who would be acting as DMs for the day. The DMs, we were told, were the good folks who would be helping us to keep the day safe and enjoyable. Their job was to wander through the play areas as the day progressed, just checking to make sure everyone was okay and having a good time….and providing advice and assistance wherever it was needed.

Drew and I had decided on a spot to play that was in a more open area. This, we thought, would give us a chance to watch some of the other action as we played. It also put us in an area where it was easy for him to flag others over to join him in tormenting me. Yikes! LOL Throughout the day I had anywhere from just Drew to as many as a dozen people all reaching in to get their shots at me. We had a blast!

There were also points during the day when there were demos set up. A local BDSM club owner had kindly consented to bring over some of their dungeon equipment to have some fun with. Two volunteers were restrained (one at a time) and tickled senseless for all to enjoy. Both were great sports and had as good a time as those assigned as their tormentors.

Probably the one thing that most impressed me about the gathering (and the thing I'd wondered most about before going) was the respect shown to every individual present. When I'd first heard about tickle gatherings, I'd pictured this wild, uncontrolled tickle orgy. It wasn't that at all. Aside from the playful little poke here and there from folks we knew, nobody touched us without first asking for permission. Most also asked if there were any boundaries or trouble areas we should know about. If you didn't want to play, you didn't have to. Everyone's wishes were completely respected. It was amazing!

We had a fabulous time both playing and making new friends. Every year since that first gathering has been equally as wonderful. We've met still more great folks and had lots of fun. The only thing we don't like about the whole thing is having to say good-bye to so many new friends. That part is difficult. We definitely experience some of the post-gathering blues that we've heard others speak of. But, hey! There's always next year. Right?!

If you haven't been to a NEST gathering, I highly recommend it. If you don't want to play, you don't have to. If you do, you'll have abundant opportunity for it. I've found that I enjoy the interaction and bonds of friendship that are formed as much as the play time that's there. We've made some great friends. We wouldn't mind making some more as well. So….check it out! We'd love to meet YOU!

Ann

PS - LOVE the sig, Jonathan! Looking forward to seeing you again.

I plan on driving up from TN for this one. I can give you a lift if you wish.

Just glad that it (theoretically) fits my schedule. FINALLY it doesn't take place at the end of April!

My first NEST was when BeautyUK (Linda) was there. She flew in from England just to be there. What year was that? '97? '98? I cannot remember.
I MIGHT be able to make this one (June 4).
I hope I can make it. I really miss everyone & I am looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Wow.....N.E.S.T sounds amazing......I will have to try to come. You only have to be 18, right? What are the fees involved in this (aside from the hotel room).

Yeah Max...thanks alot for the overall description...This will be my first year and I cannot believe im about to show my face...only one person in the whole world knows about this fetish of mine (other than all the people here)...but i look forward to showing my face and meeting some really cool people...

June 4? I could fit that into my schedule. I'd really like to attend attend again. It'd be my third time going, and it'd be great to see you folks again.

:couch: I'd love to go to NEST. Somebody in the chatroom was telling me all about it and it sounds like heaven on earth.

Well Max....From this and many other threads in the forum, it looks like this NEST could be the biggest ever....

Let me know what kind of help you need as Tracy and I are planning on being there from Thursday - the following Tuesday.....

i am so jealous this isnt fair. i just might tell hubby look i'm going to nest, nothing will happen and i'll be back when its over. geesh i'm not a ten year old which is how he treats me... i have heard nothing but good from those who attended in the past, but convincing david of this is well in a word, like talking to a brick wall.. Max told me this is safer than any regular party.

Indeed it is......there are many watching out for everyone....

A lot of really good folks attend... 😎

So...NEST is in Philly?

Looks like I wont be going! :idunno: 😛 Besides, I'm still terrified to meet some of you in public. :scared: I'd much rather talk on the phone for a long period of time before meeting, and even when I meet someone, I want it to be like..in a mall or something. That way when I feel uncomfortable, I can just leave. :imouttahe :lurking:
