Movies that aren't out on Dvd yet

What are some movies that aren't on dvd yet that you would like to see on dvd in a special edition format loaded with extra's?

Anything that was ever put on tape needs to be on DVD by now. New flicks are still $25 a pop most places, so that's more than enough for them to subsidize the release of every second of video ever on DVD.

For free.

I WANT IT NOW!!

So what movie studio guy do I get to clock upside the head for not making this happen?

Michael Bay? Please let me hit Michael Bay. Oh please oh please oh please!

I know! I can't even get The Big Parade directed by King Vidor on DVD! Those bastards!

Was V The Series ever transferred to DVD? I'd love to watch that again.

Good call, by the way. V is quite the high-quality sci-fi series.

My picks are decidedly...eclectic, if not just a bit eccentric. Since I'm a huge fan of old horror movies, I'd love to see Island of Lost Souls finally released to DVD. It's one of the best horror movies of the pre-code 1930s and deserves the full Universal DVD treatment (provided they still own the rights, that is--it was originally a Paramount picture). Aside from that, I'd like to see Kino or Criterion import classic foreign horror-thrillers like Fantomas (silent) and Alraune (silent). In terms of movies that are already out on DVD but need a good transfer/restoration, my vote's for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street starring Britain's legendary horror star Tod Slaughter. Though the movie is currently on DVD, it's an Alpha Video release, meaning it's pretty much just a VHS copy DVD-R'd and sold to the masses for a buck a piece at Wal-Mart...hardly the loving restoration that such a movie warrants.

Thankfully I've noticed an influx of older horror movies finally hitting DVD for the first time. And they are generally under $10 a pop.

Those would be the Alpha Video releases, no doubt (or those giant 50 movie packs for, like, twenty dollars).

The quality is lacking, so I view them as not being out at all because, frankly, if the movie isn't going to be of higher quality than a VHS copy, why even have it on DVD?

Ah. Post 1940s horror. While I dabble, I try not to get too involved.

Those ARE some good deals for some great movies, however.

I've got one of those packs that has 20 movies on two disc I believe. A couple of them don't even play at all. I bough it mainly to see how bad it was. I do some encoding work and I know there is no way to get good quality out of that kind of compression.

I agree, Island of Lost Souls needs to be on DVD. There's another 30s horror movie called Murders in (at?) the Zoo I'd like to see released; I've never seen it, but from some descriptions I've read it sounds like one worth checking out. And I think The Haunting (original) is one title crying out for a special edition; why haven't we seen one yet?

Besides the horror movies, I'd really like to see Roberto Rossellini's Paisan come to DVD.

Murders in the Zoo...yes, another gruesome classic ala Island of Lost Souls. Good call on The Haunting. I'm also hoping Mystery of Edwin Drood is released on DVD sometime...unbelievably, it's a better Claude Raines performance than The Invisible Man.
