Boys and girls, I've been thinking, there are a lot of movies I haven't seen that lots of people would consider iconic. Example, I haven't seen any of the Godfather films or any Star wars movies. So, what movies would my fellow TT'ers consider as iconic?
Bug 🙂

I think that the X-Men movies might fall into that category and probably the Pirates of the Caribbean movies as well. I have not seen the newest ones of either "series" yet.

Not much of a film/Tv watcher myself, but I do watch something whenever I can. So I'd have to say my list would be; Platoon starring Willem Dafoe, Tom Berenger and Charlie Sheen (before he became bi-winning 😛)

The Dark Knight, for making comic-book characters truly come to life on the bigscreen. The scenes with Bale and Ledger are a exemplar of how different characters can be played against each other by good actors.

Last but not least, Equilibrium. Yeah, it had a tiny budget. Yes, some of the props are a bit crap to the mainstream audiences who might find it a bit too talky when it's not in the numerous fight scenes. On the other hand, it's got a fantastic story, and top-notch acting (Christian Bale, Sean Bean, Sean Pertwee, Angus Macfadyen, William Fichtner, Taye Diggs anyone?) and it's my favourite film of all time.

You haven't see any Star Wars movies!?!?!

How about "Gone With the Wind?" (1939)
This is the highest grossing film of all time (adjusted for inflation $2,984,000,000...!!!)

The Indiana Jones films are brilliantly iconic. All three were fantastic (and there were ONLY three made!). And they still hold up today.

And you can't beat The Maltese Falcon for a good old fashioned Film Noir.

Funny you should reference Bogart, IrishTickle. I was gonna add Casablanca to the iconic movie list.

Airplane.
The Naked Gun.
Howard the Duck.

A lot of the usual suspects you'll find in most lists and a few I like:

Goodfellas
Raging Bull
The Public Enemy
Scarface (1983)
The Searchers
Enter the Dragon
Vertigo
The Wild One

Top Gun
Armagedon
Alien (and all the films that followed)
Godfather films
Star Wars

All of which I haven't seen- the last two I just have no interest in but always seem popular

Godzilla
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Psycho
Death Wish
The Road Warrior
A Clockwork Orange
Apocalypse Now
The Toxic Avenger
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974. The remake does not count.)
Night of the Living Dead
Pulp Fiction
The Big Lebowski
Flesh Gordon 🙂
