Hi,
I'm moving from the west coast to the midwest either next year or in '09. I have no family or friends there, no job to go to and, in fact, no clue where I'm going or where the money’s coming from to get me there. But, I’m doing this! I'm posting so that folks in the south eastern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, north western Indiana or south western Michigan areas can advise me. 😀
I consulted with a relocation astrologer and he said things would be best for me in the midwest. (I'm from Detroit, originally. I'm NOT going back there!) He said to move "within hollering distance of Chicago." (Around Lake Michigan, anyway) The thing is, I don't want to be in a big city. I've done that (TOO much!). I want the suburbs or the exurbs. I make a living as a technical writer, at the moment. So, I need to be near enough to a city that has tech writing jobs that I can work. I want a house (I've been an apartment dweller for over 30 years. I hate it). I DON'T want a roommate.
Once I'm there (wherever), I can look into the tk community in that area. But first, I need to get advice on where is nice to live, where is relatively crime free (is anyplace?), close enough to a city to be convenient but far enough away from one to avoid overcrowding, traffic jams, pollution, heavy crime, et al. I’m 57 yrs old, single, have 2 cats.
Anyone want to advise me? Thanks.
