Switched to using Firefox last night because IE was being a major pain the arse. So far I'm digging it big time.

Lol, every time I install windows, even before connecting to internet, I always make sure mozilla is installed and in high gear.

Hey HDS are you running the 3 beta? I've been using it for a while and it's freaking awesome...except I can't use quick reply! I have to go advanced and post it through that. 🙁

Other than that...It's so fast. 😀

I started using Mozilla a long time ago.

I have yet to see why I should use IE again...

I don't trust beta software unless I have a compelling reason to use it. I've learned from many foolish attempts to use brand new (beta or otherwise) software or updates to software that newer things often have kinks to be worked out that are best left to those with more patience than I. 😛 Long sentence is loooong. XD

Yea...I understand what you mean. I left firefox 2 installed so when I run into a problem with the beta I can just switch back over. You're smarter than me since you have the ability to just stay away 😀

i'm still thanking Val for turning me onto Firefox years ago. it's all i ever use. though i only use IE when visiting www.ytmnd.com since it seems to run much more stable there than firefox for some reason.

I used to love IE but once I tried Firefox in late 2004, I stopped using IE within a week. I find version 2.0 far more stable than any other browser I have used.

Norm, for sites that Firefox doesn't like, you might want to try the free Opera. I use it as my second browser.

I use almost all open-source software. I run Linux and use Firefox, and the only time I run Windows and use IE is for certain flash or java things where I still have some problems. That's not often, because I don't use stuff like that much, and The Almighty Youtube works fine for me on Linux.
I have heard from some web developers that Opera is far superior to Firefox, but I haven't tried it.

I think part of the design philosophy of IE is to make it read some html/css/php/etc commands just a little differently (or in some cases completely differently) from other browsers, and of course differently from the standards (which Microsoft helps determine), so that web designers will opt to write for the "most popular browser", i.e. IE, so that more users will refuse to switch to other browsers, since some websites will only look right in I.E., i.e., MS wants to perpetuate artificial product loyalty.

Indeed, Opera is a great back-up browser, when any trick won't do on firefox (some sites actually do have some tricks to make them work on firefox... or example, my college's automated grading system...). IE works only as last resort to me.

Tobi just loves the ninetails Fox... he likes it more than Ramen or IE... much much better and more friendly based commands...

I went the other way. I used Firefox for years and years on my Power Mac because I didn't like Safari.

When I ditched Apple for Windows Vista (Yes, I'm one of those strange people who likes it and has enjoyed using it and has had zero problems) I still ran FF for a while, but it was such a memory hog, and often times just plain sluggish.

I tried FF3 somewhere around Beta 2, but it refused to run. It would crash on startup. Beta 5 still does the same thing. It runs fine on my notebook, but not on here.

Software isn't much good if it doesn't run.

I'm now running the IE8 Community Tech Preview and like it just fine. It actually starts 😉

I was also starting to get concerned about the Mozilla/Google connection. I just don't really like Google that much. Maybe it's something about never deleting the records of anything I do, and being more than happy to turn anything over to the Feds... and generally taking over the whole Internet with their "Happy Evil Corporation" shtick.

Yeah. I love being the dissenter 🙂
