I just read an article that said the MTA wants to phase out the Metro Cards by 2018.

As someone who travels the subway most of the time, I would actually be in favor of this.

The Metro Card can be a huge pain, often taking several tries to swipe, and seemingly taking extra fare or maybe even an extra whole charge for one ride.

Since I lived in PA and NJ for so many years, I really dont remember what it was like to use tokens for subways.

They said in place of the Metro Card, would be a "Smart Card".

Thoughts on this?

As long as I can keep my Senior Citizen's discount (currently $1.35 instead of $2.75), I don't care what kind of payment system they use. 😀
