Just wanted to share some ideas I had with you guys and discuss them a little.

Before I continue, I want to stress the fact that I have NOT yet decided to make this game. While it feels interesting a project to me and probably doable (given the needed support) - I don't yet know if it's something you people are interested in, if there are people who like to host it (i.e. the support I am talking of) and whether it's worth the time invested... will it be fun enough?


Okay, having that said, here's my vision:


The game would be called "Tk Hotel", a board game which is in a way based on Monopoly. There would be a 'route' to travel (clockwise) and each of the players have a 1 star hotel built for them on one of the squares along the route. There are a lot of vacant squares and additional hotels can be built there once the player has accumulated the needed cash.

Each hour a die roll will be performed (I think one six sided die) and the player is moved along the path. (this will be handled server-side, I figured that it'd not be good if players had to log on every hour or regularly to advance their turn. Also, if players would have to wait for each other to complete their turns in turn it could take days before it's your turn again if not everyone is checking in regularly - so this will happen automatically).

When you land on a free square (and log in) you can buy that parcel of land if you have enough cash and build a 1 star hotel. If you land on your own hotel, you have a free night... but if you land on another player's hotel then you have to spend the night there. You pay and you get tickled (or your avatar, that is, all players will be able to see this if they log in at the hour you're there). Hey, it's a tickle hotel after all!

1 star hotels are cheap. But once the game carries on and people gain money they can build more hotels and they can choose to improve their hotels. Buy more tickle equipment for the rooms, etc. that raises your hotel's qualification and also of course the price per night. So if you have enough cash you can upgrade your 1 star hotel to a 2 star hotel... up to a luxurious five star hotel. Of course the tickling there will be 'heavier' and customers pay you higher (probably more likely to bribe you to stop tickling them).

Is there an end-game? That's a bit a problem. I guess dominion is the ultimate goal. Get more powerful than your concurrence and become the #1 Hotel Owner in the region, or retain that title. There's been some ideas on advertising and of course NPC guests (which you can't see but they visit and you get reports of them... they boost your cash).

The biggest PROBLEM making this game is having a server. I don't have one and I don't leave my computer on all day and all night. But if there's someone or some people there who do, then the problem is solved. All they need to do is install the 'server-side program' and keep it running. Post their IP address to the game thread so people can connect to it and log into the program.

The number of players within the same game instance would be 6 to 8 (undecided) maximum.

As said, I don't yet know whether I'm going to actually make this game... it much depends on whether there are people who are willing to run the server program on a computer that's pretty much on day & night (IP address doesn't change while connected to ISP) and whether people actually consider it interesting. Maybe this just stays a concept... but if I am inspired enough to actually create it... who knows...

It would allow all of you to play a tickle game together...
