Ethereal hates multiple choice exams because
A) They are unfair
B) The amgydala processes the notions of terror
C) You can't understand their ambiguity
D) A and B
E) A and C
F) B and C
G) All of the above
H) None of the above
I) All of the above and None of the Above creating an endless loop

*cries* :sigh:
why can't they make them happier to take.

discuss: if you had to take a test multiple choice, essay, or fill ins?

multiple guess...I mean multiple choice >.>

I just don't want to do a lot of writing.

It depended on how much I had studied for the exam. If I didn't study at all, multiple choice was good. At least I had a shot at the right answer.

I've always liked multiple choice myself. It allows you to bring logic, common sense, and process of elimination into play before you choose your answer, thus increasing the chances of a correct one.

That's a good point. If you have some common sense, often, the right answer will present itself. Here's just an example.
25. How did George Washington win the Battle of Trenton?
A) Crossed the Delaware, divided his army in two, and struck two points simultaneously.
B) Crossed the Delaware, kept his army together, and stormed the city.
C) Drew his Ultima Sword and used Omnislash on the Hessians.
D) Made a deal with the French and had each nation's group take a target.

E.) He flung poo at them and cried "not fair, not fair!" until they were so moved with pity for him that they surrendered.

Yeah, thats got to be the right answer, yo. 🙄

Scary thing is, I'd bet someone would actually try that one on a test.

They'd only do it to be a smartass. But then, whats an answer like that doing there to begin with?

I know they should try and give one obviously false answer to get the person on track, but sometimes they make it too easy or stupid that its practically an insult to the test taker's intelligence.

I know they should try and give one obviously false answer when there are more 4 options, but sometimes they make it too easy or stupid that its practically an insult to the test taker's intelligence.
I know what you mean. I've taken tests and honestly thought "You're kidding, right?" at some of the choices they give me.
And since you mentioned the obviously false answers. I dare you to find the obviously false one in mine 😎

Anyone who chooses the dud answer deserves to fail. If they can't not choose the obviously wrong answer, then we can't be certain they can grasp the concept of up and down either. 😛

nah, i'm talking multiple choice purely made to trick you.

In Catcher in the Rye
A) Holden reaches adulthood through coercion
B) THe rye is a metaphor for salvation
C) All of the above are true
D) None of the above are true

Well, if you read the book and understood it you'd know how to discern what is true and not in the answer options. So its not hard at all.

i made the example up.

it's more like 300+ pages in a science textbook of pure memorization then asking you questions from one blurb underneath a figure.

I prefer fill-in questions because essays can be time-consuming, while multiple-choice doesn't allow for nuanced answers. I remember taking one biology final where none of the multiple choices were completely correct but because it used a machine-scored answer sheet I had no way to explain my answers.
