Hello all,
Often we see posts from those wanting more events to take place. As a couple who have organised a few things for the community, we've written a few pointers which will hopefully be joined by tips from others who have done similar things and maybe this could be added to by others sharing their own first-hand experiences.
We don't claim this is Gospel or definitive or that we know all there is to know about arranging things but just a good starting point for those who ask the question: "We need to do something. What can we do?"
- Do all you can to make others feel comfortable with attending something you organise - including having an online presence.
- Do all you can to put people at ease and make them feel welcome and safe.
- Look to hold gatherings in discreet, yet safe, environments eg. a quiet room in a populated pub.
- Look to attract the tickling community as a whole (avoid the temptation to target people based on your own wants and desires).
- Just invite the tickling community - Tickle-Brits, TMF and TickleTheater are good places to start. Invite the wider fetish community and you make end up with exhibitionists or others who don't like to be as discreet as some. (We learnt this one from experience!)
- Take note of events that are already established in certain areas so to avoid treading on anyone's toes and so that you can take advantage of areas that are starved for attention.
- Make the effort to attend other events - you get your face known, you will have others who want to support you and you'll be able to observe first-hand how things can be done.
- Asking "What can WE do...?" can be a veiled attempt at saying "Will somebody do something in my area and I might turn up...!" So:
- if someone is organising something, make sure you attend or they might not do it again.
- if you want to arrange something but want the support of others, ask them directly - there's no time to be vague!
- if you can't find anyone to commit to your idea, consider doing it alone! (if you can't - why should anyone else?!)
- Persevere.
- Good luck!
Hope this helps!
As for us, we'll be organising quarterly London T-Parties in 2009. To make sure they continue into 2010, all you need to do is turn up!
And because we all occasionally have time away from the various community boards, to be kept up-to-date and informed about upcoming T-Parties, join our MySpace Group : groups.myspace.com/londonTparty Or join us on Facebook - search for: London TParty (and please do add a message with any friend request otherwise it's difficult to tell what's genuine from what's junk.)
See you there!
