I just read a story that is one of the most odd things I've ever seen, and caused me to chuckle a bit..

In St Augustine, FL, a couple left an envelope with $1000 in cash lying in their house. When they returned home, the envelope was missing. However, it hadnt been taken by a robber, it had been eaten, 10 $100 dollar bills, by their dog!

They were told to give the dog a pill to induce vomiting, which they did, and they recovered most of the loot, which they hoped would be pieced back together.

In these still difficult economic times, we all know that banks, mortgage companies, renting offices, etc, hear many legitimate reasons about people struggling to pay their bills. I venture to guess this would be the first time they would hear: "Sorry, we couldnt pay our.. mortgage.. or car payment.. The Dog ate our bill payments".

I have seriously never heard of anything like this in my life. Teachers get pissed when students go to school with stories of "My dog ate my homework". I can only imagine what the look on the faces of people was when they heard about this.

If anyone has a link to this story, and could post, it would be appreciated.

My question is why leave the money on the floor? did they not have a table or somewhere higher up to leave it so the dog had no chance of getting to the cash?

My question is why was the dog forced so eat paper?

Either they left that money in his dog dish, or that dog hasn't had a good meal in some time.

Just the other day, my brothers puppy chewed up both a cheque from the government and money from his wallet. If a dog is in the mood to chew, they will find something to chew.

Thanks for the link, mils.

Yes, cos, I know dogs can chew things. Ive had experience with this. I may have posted this before, so if it is a repost, forgive me. I dont recall.

I'm sure I mentioned how I used to have a Golden Retriever when my parents were married, and we lived in CT. One night, I was eating a burger for dinner, and the phone rang. I dont recall if my parents weren't home, or just not available to answer it.

Anyhow, so I got up from the dinner table to answer the phone, talked to whoever it was called. (I believe it was one of my grandparents, but I dont remember). I came back to the table with the intent of finishing my dinner, and the burger was gone! The dog had eaten the burger, and it was all gone! After that incident, whenever I was eating food in the room that the dog was in, I made sure to keep it out of the reach of the dog.

When I told my mom the story about thd dog who ate the money, she immediately remembered the time our dog ate my hamburger.

Bottom line: "Keep out of reach of dog" is an important motto.
