This night was just too fun to not share.
My brother and his family are moving and tonight was the night that all of us went over to help load up the U-Haul (funfun, eh?) This meant that all four sibings (I have brothers and sisters and in laws for days it seemed tonight!), their spouses and all the kids were there...along with a few family friends and a couple of grandparents as well. Quite the cluster of folks. At one point I think there were over 25 people in the house! There was still packing to be done and a lot of lifting of heavy things. 😛 As the evening wore on, the mood of the crowd seemed to grow more dismal as the reality set in that tomorrow there would be goodbyes. Frankly, it sucked mightily! My brother is one of my best friends and yours truely here was in tears the better part of the evening. I'm also very close to my teeneage niece whom I've helped to raise. *sigh - here I go again getting all emotional*
So ANYWAY....my niece is a bit of a trouble stirrer. I have to comment here that she's a tickler in the making. It's hilarious to watch her behavior in that it reminds me so much of my own at that age! She instigates tickling left and right! My brother (her uncle) and she have always had these little mini tickle fights since she was a toddler. Nothing sexual or inappropriate! Simply a kid's way of "fighting" with a grown up who teased her or jokingly pulled her braids when she got sassy.
Toward the end of the eveing, the group had taken up residence on various couch cushions, and boxes in the den and the converations had grown quiet. I sat holding hands with my niece as we both sat and cried a little finally getting past the need to be strong and sturdy. Then it happened. What happened? Well, proof that tickling is genetic! THAT'S What! LOL
Anita looked at me and just said, "I don't want our last night here to be like this. It's depressing." So I whispered to her, "So, go tickle him." (Pointing to my brother.) That was all it took. "OK!" She jumped up and took him by surprise by pouncing him with a rib assault that would have done any tickler in any video proud! LOL TOOOOO Funny to watch the man nearly spit his soda across the room as he tried to figure out what had just happened. He turned around and grabbed her feet and started tickling them and telling her, "I thought you'd be old enough to have learned by now that I always win!" Everyone in the room just laughed as we watched the dance of tickles that took place in center ring. The really funny part was when various friends or fmaily jumped into the fray by reaching in and tickling one of the others whilst a body part was being held still. I can honestly say that by the end of the episode every single person in thehouse had tickled someone else! IT WAS DIVINE!
Truely the most beautiful thing was when my brother grabbed his wife and simply pinned her against a wall and had her giggling in tears as he tickled her hips and made her say, "I want to live in Florida! I want to live in Florida!" My mom sat in her chair grinning her fool head off saying that we must be her kids...as ticklish as we all were. D'OH!!! Alarms started binging in my head! My brother chimes in, "I'm not ticklish, but SHE is!" And his poor wife got it again this time in the ribs as he pulled her into his lap. LOL What a night....It may not seem like much to anyone else. But this was like coming home after a long trip. I'm very open about my tickling habit among friends, but this was a full scale family reunion of the tickling sort! LOL Does a heart good to see such fun. Everyone was laughing so hard that the tears were from hilarity rather than sadness.
So, about 30 minutes later, as everyone started to leave...with big smiles, I might add!....my mom pokes me in the side and says, "Leave it to you to start a tickle fight in a room full of gloomy Guses." I laughed and wisely said "My work here is done."
It was a good night! Just thought I'd share it!
