For all you fans of the old school Sierra games (like the Hero's Quest and Space Quest series), I give you this. I know it is small, but bear in mind it was made for 320 x 200 Resolution (so it seems better when zoomed to full screen).

Very labor intensive creating one of these because each square has to be colored individually... but here it is. I'm also considering using this style of graphic to create a PC game (using the Adventure Game Software package), which thankfully is aimed at programming old-school Sierra type games.

Any idea what would make a good game? (i.e setting, characters, timeline) Obviously it would revolve around tickling and such, but all I get are tons of brain-farts when I try to consider the details.

Now THAT has got to be the single coolest thing I've seen in years. Hat's off to you, good sir, for I highly respect the flair and effort it must have taken to render it.

I've been actively hunting for old school games recently and I absolutely dig what you've done here.

It could be a adventure tickling game in the atmosphere of Leisure Suit Larry or Day of the Tentacle.

It is indeed easier to make out once it's blown up a bit! A novel idea, cleverly executed! The restraint gear and other trappings (such as the wanted poster) are well designed, and the participants possess a surprising amount of personality considering the self-imposed limitations of the format! The girl spread-eagled to the wall, for instance... a most comically surprised look!

Thank you guys for the input! Considering how long it took to actually finish, I'm just glad to hear that the particular format is still popular with a few! And I love the sig Littlebighead -- is it computer drawn?? The only program I have on my computer for drawing (to my knowledge) is MS paint.... Is there some other program you use?

Unfortunately the game idea has only made it thus far to paper. Once I get some textures and rooms created I'll try getting some game structure going! SyDemon; if you are interested in old school games, you should try the program software I am using. It comes from http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/. It's pretty easy to use and it is aimed at helping with the creation of Sierra - style games....

Wow - that's impressive, Kyokushinkai! The style is really good - it looks like it could easily have been a screenshot from an actual game. 😀

Thanks for the compliment, Kyokushinkai! The picture isn't computer drawn, but computer aid is involved when adding color. The software is called Flexi-sign Pro (it's intended for designing and constructing business signs). I use it in the work I do; I've just adapted the program for art purposes.

Well done! It's a unique skill to get the most out of each pixel. Wish I had a clever game concept for you. I liked the Lesure Suit Larry idea. This free AGS you link to looks great.
Maybe you could partner with someone on this site that submits comic book art. He might provide a story line. You could make his comic come to life, old school style. Just a thought.

Glad to hear people are liking the format! Thank you all for the feedback. I was kind of nervous posting the image because the format is so...different. But now that I know there are fans I promise to share any future images/game elements!

I like your idea about teaming up with a fellow Tickletheater artist, leenotler. Only problem I can see is that it takes me ages and ages to actually render my images, so any artist I do team up with might just get bored/frustrated waiting on me! :S

But as far as the game goes, a lot of people are mentioning Day of the Tentacle & Leisure Suit... While I haven't played the latter, it would seem that people would prefer a more light-hearted/humorous genre in the game?
