NEST 2010: it was decided after the 2009 edition of this hallowed event that I was going to attend it's next installment. There was a lot going against me to attend though. The first thing was the actual cost of going which, as I had predicted, climbed over $1100 for flight and hotel alone but putting about $100-200 aside every paycheck took care of that for me. The next thing, and more frightening, was the fact that I hadn't been to the United States in almost 10 years - pre-9/11 by flight. The most frightening thing of all though was meeting the people of TMF in person at NEST, particularly since because of where I live and my work I don't get the chance to do munches often; the one I did before this was one the good man Snail Shell was able to set up where I met Tickle_Emperor and Drew (evibard). I really did not know what to expect at all, both out of the event and out of myself...who would have known that it would turn out to be one of the greatest weekends of my life.
Thursday: The First of Many Meetings, How am I so invisible at a restaurant?
Got to airport, afraid of Team Canada track record. :S Line was long but getting through was easy...(What the hell Team Canada 😛 ) Boarded flight @ 6, arrived @ 7:30.Texted Tklee88 upon check-in @ hotel - stared down by Mini-Rhino shortly thereafter. After awesome hugs, went down to meet more people. Getting down to couches, I was met by many people including Kraziedog, Musicroxmysox, falcon, texastickler, BellaRisa, kassilei, natural tickler and asutickler, among so many others. Decided to go to Ruby Tuesdays - huge mistake. Following equation for why large people should be tip magnets for servers: bigger = eats more=tips more. I didn't feel more invisible than when I sat down at the table. Server must have walked by several times, panning back and forth each time and seemed to pan right by me each time. Chose to leave with Snail Shell after giving up on servers. After getting some food from the hotel and hanging out on the couches with people, I chose to call it a night.
Friday: Official registration and more new friends - Wal-Mart, BY THE HAMMER OF THOR and Korean Karaoke...
Joined Krazie, Music and Texastickler on their trip to the store to get water and snacks - saving money on ridiculous hotel prices. Ended up @ a Wal-Mart - this looks like a normal Wal-Mart, where's the American Wal-Mart experience? Got out of car, saw the small door, poked fun briefly and went in. Got water and snacks, HOLY SHIT THEY HAVE HAWAIIAN PUNCH!!! WE DON'T GET THAT IN CANADA ANYMORE... One more "small door" quip then we started quoting Anchorman on the way back, learn that sasaxrah is a huge Anchorman fan... SPEAK OF THE DEVIL, KRAZIE'S TEXT WAS FROM SASAXRAH...BY THE HAMMER OF THOR! Get back in lots of time, agree to do karaoke with kassilei and others later. Hit the couches, meet Skippy, RobAce, subtle_feather and a slew of others, waiting for registration. After getting my package I stuck around the line talking with people, including the supremely awesome PurrBast, Chaneda and Persephone! Once the after party started, I played Apples to Apples when Kassi comes in, asking again to do karaoke. I rush upstairs to change then join a car with Capnmad, falcon, Purr, and the driver EntangledMind. After an interesting car ride, including dancing cab patrons and questionable GPS, we arrive at the karaoke - WHY IS THERE A KOREAN RESTAURANT UNDER THE KARAOKE? PROBABLY NOTHING... NOPE I WAS WRONG - KOREAN KARAOKE! After everyone had arrived, and getting the manager to help us set it up due to a mass inability to decipher the remote, KOREAN, we got the party started. Great song renditions, including an "Mmmbop" done by Skippy, Purr, Euphoricy and esoteric. WHY DO ALL OF THE MUSIC VIDEOS FOR EVERY SONG SHARE A COMMON THEME: GANG VIOLENCE, SOME TRAGIC HERO AND BAD CINEMATICS? Best rendition was the last one, done by yours truly and the awesome baldadonis to Dancing Queen - ABBA. I drove us back to the hotel once we were done, and after another bit of couch relaxing and talking, I retired.
Saturday - Beginning of classes: I became a GOON, Newbie orientation, Famous Daves and the couch orgy!
Another awesome breakfast, approached by Ticklechgo to assist in a kidnapping - I'M GONNA BE A GOON!!! Newbie orientation begins, awesome to meet Libertine and Kittentoes. Thinking Libertine sounds like Patrick Stewart before Amnesiac enters dressed as William Shatner as Cpt. Kirk in another "Libertine is bald" joke: proclaiming that the Enterprise is his before his assistant, Avenger, informs "Shatner" of a priceline commercial stint. After leaving, NEST vets get the newbs to read the rules... GIRLS GO SWOON OVER FILTHYWEASEL'S BROGUE! Next up, the kidnapping... escorting the mark up to a room where four amazing ladies awaited him; lucky guy he was. 😀 Once finished, I joined Libertine's and Kittentoes' bondage class and learned quite a lot you can do with house-hold items! After that, I spent the remainder of the afternoon with several people by the couches and outside with the smokers just shooting the breeze. Once supper time came, I felt more like doing something casual and laid-back so I gave my dinner ticket to Lamashtu and went with the group headed for Famous Daves. Rock Band with baldy and sasaxrah first before running to the Daves Convoy. After a bit of a wait, and a trip to a pet store as a distraction...THOSE HAMSTERS HAVE HUGE CAJONES...we sat down to eat and good god I never knew what eating in a BBQ Pit was like until that evening: all meat and no vegetables. A good meal later and a stop over @ Target to get a few decks of cards for Bullshit... WHICH WE NEVER ENDED UP PLAYING THANKS TO SOMEONE'S IPAD, KRAZIE 😛...we returned back to the hotel and the couches. Thanks to a bit of "natural" encouragement, I discovered the amazingly soft secret of Purr and she became a recipient of my mad massage skillz. An amazing day of fun cuminated in a relaxing time by the couches... and down $6 for cards that are still in their packaging. 😛
Sunday - The play party: The resiliency of Lee, BBB ver. 12.0 and COOKIE TITS!
Got up, had another awesome breakfast! Went in to the primary room where the bondage equipment went up, very nice. Saw Persephone getting x-framed before...DUN-DUN-DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN...hotel pulls carpet out from under us. Frustration abound, ENTER THE SUPER RESILIENT LEE! Hotel moved us to two rooms, helped moved bondage equipment over to snack room, great cookin HDS! Did more floating between groups before heading to Nifty Fiftys. Full of epic win. Dino is the f***ing man! BIG BLACK BIRTHDAY VERSION 12.0 - SO BEYOND EPIC, FULL OF PURE LEGENDARY AWESOMENESS!!!! Got hats from Dino, mine broke within seconds... NG02 Hat = GO F*** YOURSELF, Slacker hat = Dino deserves a raise, PurrBast's hat = Innapropriate Librarian...should have ribbed her more for typo. ILY <3 Purr's induction into the Lean...I dunno, I felt almost UCB...I'm glad I'm a neutral! 😀 Fun drive back with Skippy and Purr. More couch time, Skippy launching HDS cookies at Krazie, tray of cookies "mysteriously" finds way onto Skippy's Mammaries...COOKIE TITS IS BORN AND EPICALLY AWESOME! PWNing Purr and Skippy at the same time, had a lot of fun with those two! 😀 After long couch, said final goodbye to Purr... long drive ahead. Brought her up to her room, gave one final massage, called mini-rhino over for goodbyes then went down to couches before going to bed.
Monday - Final goodbyes: Lots of pics and hugs, Team Canada FTW, Team Mexico = border hopping, Flight frustration then home
Got up, breakfast was not as good this time...no french toast or bacon = I haz a sad! 🙁 Started to give goodbye hugs then went to pack up. Got lots of goodbye pics, hugs and handshakes from super amazing people! Natural and Snail fighting pose pics = awesome! Team Canada pic on the bridge - amazingly awesome, MOVE THE FLAG HERE! RobAce jumping the creek - way to represent your country! 😀 More tearful goodbyes, pics and videos, check out, then falcon and I heading to the airport before me getting off at US Airways terminal. Make it through security and to terminal with plenty of time...only to find out flight was delayed, twice. Several excrutiating hours later, many texts to falcon, Purr, Tklee, Skippy and Snail in between, I board my flight when I was originally supposed to arrive home... AMAZINGLY HUGE FAIL US AIRWAYS AND INCLEMENT WEATHER! Flight was smooth, arrived home @ 6:30ish -
CUSTOMS WAS A LOT MORE ANNOYING COMING BACK HOME...WTF TEAM CANADA, WHY WAS GOING TO THE STATES EASY AND COMING HOME HARD?!?!?!?!?! DAMN AIRPORTS! Got my bags, left airport then would swear he wouldn't spend more than a week writing this... GINORMOUS
