What makes a movie NC-17? 😕 Is it the murder or death of a child or a kid? (I dunno, children between 1 and 12 yrs. old)? :sigh:

depends, obsessive murder scenes\torture or graphic sex scenes

Robocop was sent thru the censors like 9 times to get reduced from nc-17 to R

I've always been curious about this myself - we have a slightly different ratings system in England; mostly different labels, but there could be some deeper difference that I'm just failing to understand. Our ratings.

Uc: Universal, suitable for all (especially children)
U: Universal, suitable for all
PG: Parental Guidance
12A: Over 12s allowed, under 12s must have parental guidance
12: Over 12s allowed only (WTF is the everyday difference from the last one? :weird: )
15: Over 15s allowed only
18: Over 18s allowed only
R18: Over 18s allowed only, only available through specially licensed adult video stores (usu. hardcore porn)

I don't know how these compare to U.S. ratings though. It'd be interesting to see if material is rated the same (or as near as) on both systems.

In the USA, it is
G - General Audiences
PG - Parental Guidance (mild swearing or violence)
PG-13 - Parental Guidance, may not be suitable for under-13s
R - Restricted, must be 17+ or accompanied by parent (graphic nudity, violence)
NC-17 - No children under 17

Some states also require that people be 18 or over to view certain films which depict graphic sexual activity, even in the case of non-adult films.

Maybe the filming industry would do better if they went with a style more like the ESRB rating system that is reserved for video games. ESRB has been around for an entire decade yet there are still so many ignorant parents who just stick cash in their kids hands and tell'em to buy what ever game they want then, when the kid brings home something super violent and full of nudity because the sales person is also a dumbass evryone blames it on the video gaming industry. But, the ESRB ratings are set up in a nice order. The ones I remember are...

E Everyone
M Mature
T Teen
?? Animated Violence

I don't buy games much any more so anyone who does may be better able to list these.

haha, that movie was the bomb, nothing tlike corporate corruption, sex, murder, and that crappy car that burns gas like crazy that everyone wanted to buy, that part was funny.

Norm i laughed my ass off when they used the shooting scene in family guy, mainly cuz it was the origional cut.

If u seen the uncut robocop, he gets his arm blown off by a shotgun(hence why all a sudden he's got just a nub after the firing)

Eh, i like details and family guy used em but i still cringe when the one bad guy gets hut in the crochal region

"First i want some fresh coffee....then i want a recount...THEN NO MATTER WHAT THE OUTCOME I WANT MY OLD JOB BACK!!!!!"-The former mayor of the city holding city hall hostage
(refering to the car it wants) "Anything you want, let them go and we'll even throw in a Blaupump"

That stuff really was funny. I love Robocop but, I think the Yamaha heart comercial is the funniest by far.
