Yeah, so this thread is starting a little late, but what a tournament!
After a first weekend of some games that were on par with most higher seeds advancing , the second weekend has lived up to the term Madness. On Friday the first number one seed, North Carolina, fell to Auburn. And just now, the second number one seed, Gonzaga was beaten by the Red Raiders of Texas Tech. This is Tech's first ever trip to the Final Four.
The late Jim Valvano coined the phrase "survive and advance", and that is exactly what Duke has done. In back to back games, they survived a failed tip-in to win versus Central Florida, and then a failed tip-in to tie versus Virginia Tech.
My bracket was busted when North Carolina lost, my other team in the Final is Michigan State. I had picked 28 of the first 32 games, and had 11 of the Sweet 16 teams picked. With the Zags loss, I only have two of the potential Final Four teams. What a tournament!!
